Hate to rain on the parade though, ticket sales were capped. It will be a decent crowd but labour shortages brought on by lack of short-term foreign workers and Victoria's stringent vaccine mandates have meant they reduced the number of tickets they were prepared to sell.

Nice to be back.
As energy returns to Melbourne, ‘Netflix effect’ supercharges F1 (https://www.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/as-energy-returns-to-melbourne-netflix-effect-supercharges-f1-20220324-p5a7fq.html)
According to this they added five new stands after the initial sell out. And those sold out in an hour! Expecting 130,000 each day on the weekend! Whoa!!!
4 DRS zones, but 2 detection zones

Is anyone here intimate enough with the rulebook to tell me if what Max has been doing on restarts (getting side-by-side with the leader) is legal? Or is legal, but outside the "spirit" of the "single file restart"?

Or is legal, but outside the "spirit" of the "single file restart"?I suspect it's legal as long as he doesn't pass the leader, but probably not rigorously within the 'spirit' of the rules. But that's more 'suspicion' rather than knowledge.

I have been watching the other series race this afternoon and it looks like there are a few places to pass which should make for an exciting race on Sunday. The track looks amazing. Well done Aussies.
Day one of the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022 saw an estimated record-breaking attendance of 112,466.
The previous largest estimated attendance for day one of the event was 84,500 in 2019.
Adam Cooper (@adamcooperF1) Tweeted:
Don't expect too much strategic excitement on Sunday, as @pirellisport believes that the default choice will be a simple medium/hard one-stopper. The soft could be an option for a short sprint to the flag if there's a late safety car etc
