There's a curfew. I think you can break it 8 times in a season before penalties are applied. This is just formal notice of the penalty.
On a different note, "the loop" is the worst corner name at Silverstone. It doesn't fit in with the vibe of the rest.

That's really funny. I hope the Miami GP organizers realize how dumb that looked.

Sometimes it works out for you...sometimes it doesn't.
I should check the forecast for tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be a fun race!

Wicked accident at the start.
They still have yet to report on Zhou Guanyu, nor show any footage from his crash scene.
The extraction team is onsite. Keep good thoughts.

Zhou Guanyu is out of the car and moving. News from Alfa Romeo Sauber team is that he is ok. Placed in the ambulance and sent for further evaluation. Thank the Maker.

Red flag ongoing.
Sky just showed the replays - they confirmed that they held them until they knew Zhou was ok.
I'll post a replay as soon as some good ones appear online, but basically Zhou ended upside down after contact with Russell after they both made poor starts. Zhou slid on the halo through the ravel trap, cartwheeled over the tire wall and ended up in the catch fence.
Super scary. Glad he's ok.

Those who thought that the interesting decisions from The Stewards were over..think again.
George Russell will not be allowed to restart the race since his car was brought back to pit lane, as per the rulebook.
(Russell claimed he left the car to check on Zhou)
For the restart, the starting positions will be original grid order rather than as they ran after completion of lap 1. This decision is based on an unknown rulebook.
Lap 1 and the 2nd formation will still count against total race distance. It is also presumed that if you restart on a different tire compound than the original start, you are good to those regulations as well.
Despite grid order for the restart.

Safety Car for Ocon.
Worked out for Hamilton, Sainz, and Perez. Not so much for Leclerc.
Red flag may have been a blessing :shakehead:

Turns out that you DID have to use 2-compounds during the race.
As it happened, the late SC period negated any issue with that, as most pitted anyway.
But as you say, leave it to F1 and their hodgepodge set of rules to create drama shere there should be none.

The sad thing is that these are NOT Americans. Surely they realize the insanity of running onto a live racetrack in 'protest'. Surely.
What a race. Probably the best racing I’ve seen in F1 in the final laps. Masterful on all parts.

Agreed. And yikes on the picture you posted above
Great race, one of the best I've watched. Thank goodness for the Halo, to walk away from that wreck is incredible. The picture makes it even more amazing.
Look closely at the picture. This is before he was extricated!
Peak F1, the racing was 10/10 thanks in part to this year’s formula and everyone walked away unharmed, again thanks to F1’s regs. Not always a fan of F1’s tendency to over regulate. But not today. Well done at all levels.

https://i.redd.it/6wazpqjx6d991.jpg
Yes it did. But did the pavement scrape the roll hoop down to the level of the halo? I was under the impression that the roll hoop was the primary device to preserve the driver's head in the event of a rollover.
Edit: Nevermind, apparently it snapped off.
Ross Brawn on the ‘fabulous racing’ at Silverstone, his relief after Zhou’s crash & why we’re truly entering a new era of F1
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.ross-brawn-on-the-fabulous-racing-at-silverstone-his-relief-after-zhous.7oaSlpOJeHSrBF0c8NvuyF.html
This year’s race at Silverstone was a classic – and a perfect demonstration of what the sport was trying to achieve with these revolutionary new racing cars. It was a relief to see Zhou Guanyu and Alex Albon are okay after big impacts – and once again, a fine example of the progress Formula 1 and the FIA have made with safety.

I didn't get to see this race until Monday. When I came here to read the comments, I was so relieved to see that I wasn't the only one that thought it was good. In fact, aside from the horrific crash, it was probably the best F1 race I've ever seen. Bear in mind, I only started watching 3 years ago so I didn't see Senna or that pointy-chinned fellow. I knew it was a rarity when I heard Hamilton say the tires were still good. He NEVER says that. Then the announcers opined that they might in fact have some old fashioned racing. They NEVER complain but they allowed themselves that. I guess I'll have to catch up on my sleep at the next one because this one kept me wide awake the whole time.
