Click and Clack, the Magliozzi brothers of NPR fame, have a newspaper column which ran in the local paper yesterday. This question appeared:
"A freind and I were arguing. I said that you can change your oil by punching a hole in the oil filter and vacuuming all the oil out through the filter and filling the oil back up from the top. Why would I do this? Because I like to be different! Would it work?- Franklin."
 :D
It, and the anwser, is not yet posted on Car Talks website.

Well, lots of people do vacuum their oil out through the dipstick tube to avoid getting under the car. It works really well if you have a front & center canister type oil filter.
If I'm not mistaken, MB dealers use this method on some models. How they can do that and still charge $90 for an oil change is beyond me, but hey, I'll never have to worry about it.

Chop, Ray Magliozzi actually suggested the dip stick as a more reasonable alternative. Tom M. ends their advise to Franklin (Radcliff?) with "Tune in next week, Franklin, when we tell you how to adjust the headlights via the trunk."
:D
I can almost visualize Franklin working on that problem over the next week.
And 'Bird, the wife wanted to know why I busted out laughing while reading that question in their column while sitting on the back porch. I was left with saying "ah, long story dear".

I wish we had a list of some of his old posts. Also, I remember Rushville Rocket making a sketch of the "Franklin" car.

Franklin:
It appears that you are tying up this board with your assertions. I ask 2 things from you:
a) Please remind us of what your point is. The discussions about chemistry are rather pointless unless those of us who don't live to read your messages can grasp your central thesis.
b) If your point is that the people on this BBS are worthless, please go away.
 Some things never change

I kinda miss the old fella. Just imagine what Champ Cars would look like now if we had followed his ideas. :)
I remember Rockets drawing! Ah, nostalgia.....them's were the days when it was all fun and laughter.
Rusty.
I remember him really liking my idea about putting magnets in the noses of cars and in the walls at opposite polarisation to reduce/deflect head-on collisions.

You know, I believe Franklin was the only person I ever banned from 7G simply because I personally couldn't take it anymore.

Holy crap. Those are great. :D
And as long as we're playing.... whatever happened to "Speedbump"?
ahhh... the good old days of 7G... ;)
And to think I wasted synaptic firings on that idiot.
They always told me the flashback would be bad.....
You could carry extra speed down the straight (maybe leftover from passing somebody) and then use another car's jet wash to help slow you down.
I forgot how whacked this guy was.

This had me laughing out loud:
Franklin: Yes, and I'm sure you have Sir Isaac Newton spinning in his grave.
SID: How would you best stop that spinning?
Reverse thrusters?
Air brakes?
Reversed magnetic polarity?
Matter/Anti-matter reverser?
Sub-Atomic particle decelerator?
 I signed up on 7G too late to join in the Franklin fun.
I joined 7G about a month before those postings to get away from him and a few others completely trashing speednet. Then OH NO!! He's baaaack!!!

Wow. That was well over a year before I posted on anything 7G aside from the ladder forum. Looks like I missed out on some interesting stuff. I wonder if the wayback machine people ever look at some of these pages and wonder "we're using our space for this!?"

There weren't many people calling for Franklin's head on a stick -- I just got completely sick of him. silva, however... there were about 50 emails per week asking (begging, demanding) for his removal...

This one is pretty good and recent.

So Franklin had a problem with everyone else's inability to disprove his contention that a jet powered race car would, uh, "fly"?
Is there a butterfly net big enough for this guy and his ego? Whew!

Of course it doesn't hurt that Franklin is such an easy target.

Pants are over-rated.
