Neither Formula 1 teams nor tyre supplier Pirelli were informed about the "painted" surface treatment at the Shanghai circuit before arriving in China for this weekend's race.

Just watched SQ. Rain during SQ3, the track became extremely slippery. Possibly due to the bitumin paint? I imagine this will be a hot topic. Especially if it rains during the sprint and/or the actual race.

Painting the grass around public places and places in the public eye is a very common practise in China. Gotta put your best foot forward albeit faked so poorly it's effing obvious.

Karun Chandok said it best after the race, you have to watch it with two minds. One to appreciate the greatness of Max and the other to appreciate the mid-pack battles. Forgetting about Max I thought this was a very entertaining race. Tire strategy, some brilliant driving, and some not so brilliant moves. I’m impressed with how well McLaren is doing. Who is bringing their first upgrade to Miami. And I’m enjoying half the Aston Martin team’s performance.
