Saw a great YouTube video yesterday on the Handford Device Era in CART

SteveH has probably already posted it but I'm too lazy to search

Great memories of the California Speedway at Fontana. Still can't believe it's gone :(

I'll have to check that out. Thanks. I wasn't a fan of the Handford Device. It sure created some exciting racing, a 500 mile race at MIS comes to mind. But the passes were meaningless. Whatever advantage was gained in the pass lasted only long enough for the trailing car to get caught in the draft and slingshot by the leading car. Net zero

I was at MIS for the Handford races, it was more nascar like than Indy car.

Yep. The Handford races were certainly exciting but they weren't the kind of "real racing, real sport" that Champ car touted. It was just an attempt to keep the speedways on the menu while they were kind of stuck with the overall package.

As far as I can see, you're describing DRS. TravelGal, the UnF1 Fan.
