When Formula One drivers return to Austin this coming week for Circuit of the Americas' signature event, the Pirelli United States Grand Prix, they will discover a shiny new black racing surface.

"It looks like a brand new track, doesn't it?" COTA Chairman Bobby Epstein said this past week. "It will feel like a totally different track to the drivers. We'd done quite a few patchwork things over the years, but I know the big repave was overdue. This should lead to really fast lap times and some records. I'm confident drivers will like the new surface."
