Sometimes we all just want a sponsor to be a sponsor. Sportsbook.com ? Lots of exposure around the world and the promise of more action... but I have some small trepidations. Anyone else concerned?

Why pchall?
I have certain qualms about CART associating with an international on-line sports betting corporation. Just as I have always had doubts about tobacco sponsorship. There are certain moral and ethical concerns.

I didn't have an issue with tobacco sponsors. I can see the potential conflict with Sportsbook. However, we need sponsors, and having them as a sponsor is no more going to make me bet than having tobacco sponsors would make me smoke.
Not much different than the Harrah's sponsorship of Foyt's team.

Short of the Pablo Escobar Foundation, I'm happy with whoever writes a check these days.
Hey, wouldn't the Pablo Escobar Foundation be a neat sponsor for Tony's series? Think about it... a solid white car with a lumpy air-box driving around a snow covered track... what a commercial! :p
First, it's a dot com, just ask the IRL how reliable that sponsorship is. Second, the whole internet is kind of a wild, wild, west. No rules and it's left up to the discretion of the business to monitor itself. That, along with the fact it's a gaming business makes me a little uncomfortable, yes. Otherwise, I'll leave it to Pook's better judgement.
The last CART race at MIS was sponsored by Harrahs, although they didn't pay the money to be mentioned on TV.
I don't see a problem with Casino sponsorship, although off shore online casinos seem quite a bit more "questionable" than your typical brick and mortar casino. (Mostly because there's strict regulations to ensure "fairness" in traditional casinos. Online - not so much.)

With the "offshore casino" sponsorship maybe I will start getting CART junk e-mail to go along with all the porn and betting house junk e-mail I get now!
at least the sponsor is related to sports, unlike the gp's damn poster.

Sportsbook.com is publicly traded as part of the Sportingbet PLC Group, the largest online gaming company in the world.
Not a dot.bust kinda operation you'd find on Cheever's sidepods or digitally covering the empty stands at an IRL race for TV.
Still, I wonder about gambling and sports.

Well, now all they need is a real track to race on! I know it is slightly changed, but wish it was longer and faster. Can you imagine how popular ChampCar could become if parimutuel betting was allowed! What are the odds on Tracy at Vancouver? Boss? I was an ethics nut before the Casino came to my town, but I sure enjoy the new streets, sewers, rec-centre, golf-course, parks, etc. The income is NOT being wasted...18+ mil a year! Of course, in their WISdom, the state will increase the Casino tax to SEVENTY % to lower the debt...talk about wringing the neck of that golden egg-laying goose!!
Aren't most of the online gaming companies based in the Carribean? Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Trinadad, ect.....
Miami would make the best place for them to sponsor an event.

My understanding is that the on line betting places are some of the most profitable web based ventures out there, so I doubt this is a fly by night kind of deal.
