View Full Version : NASCAR Rev limiter?
I didn't know they were allowed to have one of those.
Kyle Petty just ran up against it really hard on the backstrech of Pocono during his qualifying run.

You don't hear it very often, but I'd imagine its on pretty much every stock car. Even my friend was talking about how his dad installed installed an MSD ignition on his '74 Cutlass and was going to set it to 2,000 rpm everytime my friend wanted to borrow it. ;)

It's not a rules-mandated piece. It's a chip that's part of the MSD control box, and it varies by how much sack the engine builder has. I have an 8000 chip on my late model.
You could go without one if you wanted. Most teams don't, though.

If you've ever wanted to hear a rev-limiter in NASCAR, this is the best track to do it.
OT - This is supposed to be the race where (and if) they show Wally Dallenbach, who took a NBC crew to see the Simple Green Safety Team, reportedly at Toronto.
Don't know when during the broadcast they're going to show it, but the rumour was it was to be shown during Pocono.
Steve
Maybe during the pre-race show?
