If it can be saved by sheer force of will, the online community of diehard ChampCar freaks like us could save it.

I could save it but no one would listen to me.

Something tells me that you would want them to rent the cars they drive.

How did you know? See, the secret is that I'll trick them into taking the insurance and the gas options and use the revenue from that to subsidize Mid-Ohio and Road America. ;)

Roger Penske. (you said, "can!")
As long as he stays in the inheritors sandbox and continues to outspend and create havoc with underhanded engine leases that nobody else is allowed to have, then you are right in the sense the he is helping CART by hurting the IRL.
I don't want him back, and I don't think CART would benefit in the long term having him back.

Forsyth is richer than Pimpski.
Forsythe, Kalkoven, Gentilozzi, Russo and Newman (Helloooo, Newman ;) ) have VERY deep pockets. I don't think money will be an issue if these are the guys actually involved.
Thank you R2C. and Rabbit, that "hello Newwwwwwman!" deal was
How about Billy Graham? I'm thinking of a smack-Chris-Pook-in-the-forehead and a "You are a-saaaaaved!" sorta thing.

Underdog
I'm guessing the very rich guy who has two profitable races in Mexico.
Control of a series is good if you are a race promoter/track owner.
