You might want to try going to DSL Reports (http://www.dslreports.com/tools) and running a couple of speed tests. Once you've done that, try a "Tweak Test". I made a couple of minor changes that were suggested and it made a HUGE difference in my download speeds. (5491 kbps this morning. Shaw Cable beats Telus DSL all to hell, in case anyone was wondering).
Now that you made the leap you might as well try to wring as much out of it as you can.

RoadRunner here.
1987 down/362 up
3000+? That's sick.
RR.com here as well,
1767/360.
3187 / 116 - Cleveland speakeasy - Insight cable. Thats on my laptop in the living room connected to the wireless router upstairs! I've seen better than this speed tho.
What are all these numbers you guys are crowing about?
If the family pics that Warlock! is kind enuff to send me download quickly, I'm cool with the speed of my 'puter. :D
JT,
The first number is the speed of download measured in kbps and the last is the upload speed.
Since most people spend more time requesting information than sending information the download speed is more important. If you had a webpage and were sending the information constantly, you would want a higher upload speed.

I like to credit the reason I'm such a strong-willed individual to the fact that up until last Friday I was doing all my downloading either thru dial-up or slow-@ss ISDN. A 10 meg movie clip? No prob... start the download and check back in an hour.
My wife always wondered why I have the stamina to hold out for so long... when you download a pic and you just see the top of the girl's head...
...then her forehead...
...then her eyes...
...then her lips...
...then her chin...
...then her neck...
...then her shoulders...
...then her... well, you get the idea.
You tend to build a high tolerance for pleasure. No matter how many months it's been. :(

This actually happened to a former coworker of mine. There had been some maintenance work performed, and they coss-connected an air line with a water line. He pulled the flush lever, turned his back to leave the stall, and the air hit and blew the bowl contents all over his back and legs.
He had to walk through the building to his office to call his wife and have her bring a change of clothes.
Ant this wasn't in NZ, either!!:D :D
