Player's plans to retain its full stake in the Forsythe team, too, even though incoming Canadian legislation will prohibit the tobacco giant from advertising on the cars.
Player's will simply be more aggressive in exploiting advertising avenues permissible under the new law.
"They have a program lined up for next year," said Tracy, hinting additional team sponsorship is also being sought.
"That will be announced after the season is over. And everything is in step for Player's to they get their maximum exposure."
I wonder if they'll do something to what U.S. Tobacco does with Supercross (and probably other sports too). They use their "one motorsports sponsorship" with Skoal in NHRA.
However, at other sporting events, there is "U.S. Tobacco" signage. They also have booths set up (with full Skoal Branding) to sign people up for their mailing list and to hand out coupons and/or samples. They simply put these booths in places where they will not be seen on television.
Player's could probably do much of the same. (Or, their folks might just suddenly find that a Player's logo makes a fine fashion statement, and just decide to wear them whenever they go out in public.)
