Looks like BiF didn't make it out of Indiana before running into trouble: http://www.startribune.com/stories/1451/4207679.html

I'm guessing you moved there for the same reason I moved here. All totaled, those are probably the worst things that will happen there anytime soon. There are a handful of violent crimes here every year... not every day (like NoVA).
Yeah, it'd be nice not to have to drive an hour and a half to go to a jazz club. It would be nice to go to a museum without having to make a weekend trip of it. It would be nice to be around people who realize (without the use of graphs and charts) that the rest of the free world doesn't give two dead flies about NASCAR. But if the trade-off is that I'd have to install a silent alarm on my car or get a carry permit for a Glock 19 when I go to certain areas of town... I guess Podunk isn't so bad. If I'm only going to be away from home for an hour or so, I leave my doors unlocked. Do that in Northern VA or L.A. and your entire house would be stolen.
"Local Man Gored By Bull While Cow Tipping" My kinda headline. :)

Lots of fun in the Northland. Ice racing, rallyX, lapping at Brainerd. Get a Rabbit, an old Saab or some other grassroots car and weld a cage in it.

All you need is a street car for the Duluth Winter Rally Series. They just haul ass through the forest, sometimes at night.
:D
Is BiF finally here? http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4210308.html

We live in a small community outside our capital city for the same reason (I believe Winnipeg is still the Murder Capital of Canada, is it not? :saywhat: ). We lock our doors at night, and when I'm home alone or with the kids. We never lock our car in town, but always in the city.
Vandalism and hooligan-ism are a problem in our little town, though; four teens are behind the majority of the trouble. But they're not the brightest beans in the chili; they threw a molotov cocktail at my cousin's video store...and used diesel fuel.
Anyway, I like my quiet town, in my quiet province. And I have to drive only half an hour for city attractions.
