According to tsn - Bomber's backers wanted Jag, not Minardi.

His sponsors must be pretty clueless to think that he even had a hope in hell at landing the Jag seat. A midpacker at best in F3k and tail end charlie in a handfull of F1 races. That is two reasons why he is in a Minardi instead of the Jag. Plus I think that there are 15 million other ones.... ;)

Not sure Jordan is much of a step up from Minardi anymore. I don't see Jordan improving from their 9th place constructors finish.
