Yesterday was the Day the Music Died. In 1959, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and JP Richardson, known as The Big Bopper, died in a plane crash after their concert at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. There is an excellant post over at CW about the incident that you can read here:

Also if any of you are interested in a little Buddy Holly history, I have a link on my website to Peggy Sue Gerron, the Peggy Sue that the song was written about. The song was originally titled Cindy Lou, but was changed by Buddy at the urging of his friend who wanted to impress Peggy Sue. RIP Buddy, Ritchie and JP.
