What happened to Forsythe's 3rd team that was based in Ohio? I think Herta drove 1 season in an undersponsored car, and it was the old Tasman team or something along those lines.
Wasn't that the remains of S. Horne's old team?

It was the old Tasman team. I believe they folded it after spending a year trying to find a sponsor without success.

Kanaan ran for them with the LCI sponsorship in the last year, I believe. Won a race -- MI 500? Forsythe tried to keep the place running with the very good looking but unpaid for McDonald's car. There was supposed to be a Swift-Honda for Herta when he got booted from Rahal but it never ran. Then it just faded away in CART internal politics.

Forsythe Champioship Racing was formed out of the remnants Of Tasman Motorsports in 1999. Tasman last ran Kanaan in 98 with LCI. Forsythe took over in 99 with McD's and re-named it FCR and won @ MIS. They were gonna run the Swift/Honda w/ Herta in 2000 but balked when it became apparent that the 2000Swift was a dog. They ran Herta @ Laguna Seca that year in a Reynard/Ford where he finished 4th. They ran Herta in 01 with INDECK on the car but closed up shop at seasons end..
Kanaan rode the LCI car? I honestly don't remember that. This is what I can recollect:
Ribiero ran the LCI car under Tasman.
Kanaan ran the McD's car under Tasman/Forsythe
Herta ran the Indeck car under Forsythe.
I believe the year was 1997 or 1998 on the Kanaan at Tasman LCI deal. I've got one of those team 8 1/2 X 11 info cards with him on it in the Tasman LCI car. If I'm not mistaken, I got that in 1997 or 1998.

Kanaan only raced in the LCI car in 1998. But he ran again for Tasman in 1999 in the McDonald's car and won at Michigan, if memory serves.
you are right about kanaan running LCI in 1998.

Brazillian McDonalds if I remember correctly.
The most repeated story on the McDonald's sponsorship was that Forsythe offered first year for free, with McDonalds having the option to pay for 4 more years, if they liked what they saw. (Which, apparently, they didn't.)
This might also be one of the reasons that the Herta/FCR deal fell through. Herta had the golden arches painted on his helmet for 2000, even though he never actuall drove a McDonald's sponsored car.

So Kanaan graduated from lights to the LCI car taking over for Ribeiro when he left for Penske in 1998. Didn't Horne also run the LCI colors in their lights effort in those years??
I'm just too lazy to look this up. ;)

Kanaan and Castroneves were teammates in Lights in 1997 with Marlboro Latin America money. The cars were all red.
Those were some of the better years of Indy Lights.
Yes, those were the colors of the Tasman Indy Lights cars as well, although they may not have had LCI on the sidepods.

they were? I remember them being mostly red. Time to scour the old photos somewhere.

DaMatta and Airton Dare were teamates @ Tasman in Indy Lights in 98. The cars had the same paint job as the LCI Champcar, but had the name of a Brazilan Bank on the sidepods.
Correction: Dare's had BANESTADO on the side and DaMatts'a had Medley Industria Farmaceutica on the side.
Here's an okay shot of da Matta:
