Champ Car today announced that HDNet, the first full-time high-definition cable and satellite network in the U.S., will be the exclusive home of live HDTV telecasts of the 2004 Champ Car World Series. Beginning with the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 18, fans can catch the turbocharged racing action of the Champ Car World Series on HDNet in cutting-edge 1080i HDTV.

In addition to the high-speed racing action of the Champ Car World Series, the HDNet telecasts, which will be produced by the award-winning Betelgeuse Productions, will also feature live final-round qualifying events and live coverage of the Motorock TransAm Tour at Champ Car venues

Cool. They'll be showing everything live. Ohhh, it's so tempting. $2500 for the 40" Wega, that's hard to spend that much.

I just noticed that HDNet is only doing the U.S. and Canadian races. Probably due to equipment issues.

Are you guys getting HDNet via DirectTV? I'd like to upgrade, but my cable company doesn't offer it.

Dishnetwork here. If I were choosing today I'd probably go with DirectTV though, their equipment choices are better. Currently both systems carry the same HD channels. Anyones guess on which will add more and when.

Just saw on TechTV channel, DISHNETWORK is combining the satellite box INTO a HD TV and will be be part of your subscription plan. You get HDTV, TV and satellite for like about $900. Don't believe me....

Probably the host broacaster for the other races. TV Azteca and I forget the Australian channel.

I'm just waiting on the locals here on DirecTV. I feel like I get more channels for the same price plus NFL Sunday Ticket.
