I'm hoping ol' chickpea breath is GONE, GONE. Long overdue, I say.
But is there any hope that Jourdain and his Gigante bucks will jump to a deserving ChampCar outfit and dump BaldyLocks?
According to AR1 and MSF, either KK or Gentz - or both, have been down in Mexico talking to the decision makers.
Anybody?

Yep, it appears everyone's staying.
If Rahal was going to go, it would have been shortly after Thurs. Since it wasn't, I grew confident that Gigante told Bob "No IRL."
I would hope that considering that Michel and his dad hooked the Gigante deal and jobbed it to Mr. PotatoHead that they would have some input as to where they race, and Michel don't like earl anymore than you do Groover. :)

MJ and PG had lunch here yesterday. They were mum on the subject, but if I were a betting man my money would be on a Gigante sponsored Rocketsport entry :D

Interesting that Telmex isn't too thrilled about going earling.

Yeah, I might want to take back what I said about AF. Still understand his reasoning, but perhaps there IS something else here.

Let's just remember the last 48 hours. What did he do? The &$%#@&(^$#© grabbed his briefcase and went on an 11th hour mission to do no less than try to ensure that OWRS' season would be stillborn.

I like Rahal, tipped a few with him years ago, interesting person capable of entertaining conversation on a wide range of topics. I also see him as a damn good driver, smart when he needed to be and fast when that was called for.
Having said all that, the list of his shortcomings since he left the cockpit and strapped on a desk is long and growing longer.
Reading between the lines I'm thinking he'll bolt only if he can take Gigante with him. Combine their money with Honda's, plus whatever bonus the IRL is offering, and you've got enough cash to keep the doors open a few more years.

I'm with Lone-groover on this one !
I like Rahal, but this is NOT the time to be an ******* regarding where he's going to race ... he should have done it before the Fanfest.
Adrian was a average driver with a Bailing Wire & Duct Tape Team... hardly someone for Rahal to base his decision on.
And sorry ... the names were amusing!

as long as we're bringing up names, how about one from the past?

Something to consider, would his leaving the series do as much damage as his leadership did?

Hell, his f@ckups started the day after he clinched the 1992 CART title.
The disasterous Rahal-Hogan chassis program. Getting impatient and dumping Honda after one season and then watching Honda win everything for the next 6 or 7 years. Seemed like he was either switching engines, chassis or tires every season, so he spent half the next season playing catch up. In fact I can't think of too many CORRECT decisions Bobby made AFTER 1992.

Well, in keeping with the title of the thread...as I recall it was Rahal/Letterman racing. Does anybody know if Dave is still involved in the operation?

Paul Newman was on Letterman about 6 weeks ago, and Paul did a little promo in conversation for OWRS. He then said, "Your in that series too?".
Dave did his patented "Squirm" which to me said he was uncomfortable with the question, either because he is modest about his participation, or he might have a "secret" that he didn't want to reveal.
However Bobby has ALWAYS been the Front Man for the Team and I believe Majority Owner, and Dave just plays a background role, although I'm sure he has some say how his investment is used.

I have a feeling that instead of people like P. L. Newman, Mark Knopfler, and Lenny Kravitz, Letterman's gonna be talking racing with Ruth Buzzi, Florence Henderson, Jim Kaveezhole, and Johnny Cougar this season.

Gomer? Too much paperwork. Gotta have a signed release from each medical examiner before he can be transported across state lines.
The layman can't be expected to be able to determine whether he's still kickin'.

Just because you were respected at some point doesn't mean you're immune in the future. If that was the case then OJ would still always be mentioned as one of the greatest RBs of all time.

They ate in the restaurant!?!?
Oh man! Max and I were just thinking about that food last weekend! There is nothing like it here... :( I wish I could come back down for some food (and the race), but the fiancee has got me on travel lock down... ;)

hey Keith, great to hear from you.
I was close to moving back to NYC a few weeks ago, but that plan is shot for the time being. too bad you can't make it down here soon. say hi to Max and I hope to at least visit there soon.
back on topic; FBR & FAF too. viva Michel!!!
Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but according to this Article at espn.com http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/story?id=1763779, Michel will be a 3rd car at Newman-Haas Racing... or at least the deal is in the works.

Very interesting. N-H was prepared for three and Dario was coming back. Which goes with what Ashley said before. Good for Michel. He will be with an even better team.
Edit: On a sid note, John Oreovicz's articles on ESPN.com have been very fair towards ChampCar. That is a welcome change from them.

IIRC, wasnt he a writer for cart.com last year? Are there still any columnists on that site, or is it just going to be a plethora of press releases.
Topic: glad that Jourdain is staying around. It could be an interesting conflict of personalities between Jourdain/Bourdais/Junky. And its even without the help of Cialis, its nice to see a team grow.

I thought beetlejuice was gonna revamp the website along with the telecasts.
Orockavitz is a journalist and not just a shill.
I read the b rahal teleconference and it almost sounded like ron popeel plugging his products rather than a journalistic interview.

That's where I saw his name before.
I wonder how much their styles differ. It could either really help the engineers or they could be in for a long season.
Jourdain will not be at NH
To add a twist o the rumors of where Michel will end up, last night on Speed News they stated that RuSPORT was the likely candidate. Just wanted to add another name to the list.
