Successfull test of the new scramjet engine.
NASA is having a very good year so far. :thumbup:

Pretty cool. Now to get the space shuttles back up.
Scramjets are amazing things, they pretty much just long tubes for air to get compressed into. As the air gets compressed from the supersonic speeds, fuel is injected into this tube. The fuel ignites by using the oxygen from the air! No oxidizer tanks necessary, making for a lightweight vehicle. Very very cool.

I never had any interest in space but I'd be an astronaut in a second, for nothing more than having the bragging rights of fastest man alive.

Wow, it's a tiny aircraft...it's the black thing sitting on the top of the nose of the rocket that's mounted under the wing of the launch aircraft:

No doubt. The article said it was 12 feet long. It also said they were going to push one to Mach 10 later this year.
