On my way home from FL yesterday, I was in a plane with a large number of high school cheerleaders coming back from a competition at Walt Disney World. A conversation behind me went like this:

Cheer A: "Oh my god, this CD player is sooo ghetto."

Cheer B: "Why? It's like almost new, and it's like really small and stuff."

Cheer A: "It only has like ten seconds of skip protection. And when you have that, like, turned on, the battery lasts like less than one CD!"

Cheer B: "Oh. That is pretty ghetto. Mine has, like, a minute of anti-skip, and I swear the battery lasts forever. But it doesn't play MP3s, like, at ALL."

Cheer A and Cheer B in unison: "Ghetto!"


My daughter is seven. Only seven. I have a few more years to prepare.
