We all know that sex sells, there is a fine line between what is exceptable behavior from sponsors promoting their product with attractive women and other sponsors (Penthouse) wanting to put their product on cars.
But should it be acceptable for porn sites to gain access to paddocks, film and be filmed hawking their product? Should I have alerted the powers that be? I'm no prude mind you, but it's one of the things that really irk me about racing.

I think hes referring to Playboy TV being in the paddock at Long Beach over the weekend.
If so, I say bring 'em on. Seriously, there has been a lot of dissing on Playboy et al regarding sponsorship, but it occurs to me that if it's okay to hawk boner pills everywhere, including racing, then these guys should be allowed too.
Besides, "these guys" are women, so, even better.

Nascar had Anna Nichol Smith in their pits hawking that diet plan, that's worse! :saywhat:
BM shared a story on trackforum about a few Porno people being in the room next to his at Long Beach.
He then saw them in the paddock handing out coupons for $5 off for something. Video rental or purchase, exotic parlour or something.
I think that is what he is referring to.

Playboy supported the Arrows F1 team somewhere around 1981.
Penthouse sponsored an F1 Hesketh in the mid-'70s. It was normally driven by Guy Edwards and then Rupert Keegan, but I was surprised to discover that Alex Ribeiro drove it once too. I just hadn't expected someone with "Jesus Saves" displayed on his helmet to have anything to do with Penthouse.

In this case I'd say this definitely shouldn't be allowed at the track. Don't need to scare away sponsors.

Women... real ones were letting loose with what they thought when passing outside of the pits. I was just pissed. They were blowing bubbles to attract attention, made it easier to stay clear.
Needless to say the night before when going up in the elevator it was kind of quiet. Felt sorry for the father with his kid who rode part way up. :shakehead

To me, it comes down from Champ Car HQ. If they mandate their organization 'family friendly', then they need to keep the porn riff raff out of the paddock and off of the cars. It seems like Champ Car in recent years has taken on a more of an edgier attitude. TK's color commentary my case in point. But it's harmless for the most part. It would probably turn off middle America, but the again what doesn't. ;)
I think Champ Car is a family oriented sport and should keep porn (hard and soft) out of the paddock and off the cars.
Bikini contests are a different story! :D

Hey, if he paid for his tickets, he can show off his whole harem and as long as naughty bits are not showing, there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Were they handing out coupons to children? Were they forcing people who didn't want the coupons/fliers to take them? This is a non-issue, IMO. Did the security guard roll their eyes at you? I would have.
If OWRS allows other businesses to hand out coupons and samples, I don't think they could prevent businesses like this from doing the same without running afoul of the ACLU. (the coupons- not the samples!) :p
If Trojan wanted to sponsor a ChampCar, would anyone squawk? Would you if they wanted to hand out free samples to willing adult recipients? This isn't much different in my eyes.

Well I beg to differ. He's using the series to promote his porn. Not the kind of business to business type of thing anyone should want. The security didn't roll his yes at me, his job was to take tickets and nothing more. IF Champ Car had noticed I think they would have been tossed out. They were filming for commercial purposes at a Champ Car event.
Yea I'm prudish, even asked Don to think about taking the pics off his website, but no, he equated them to Tecate girls. You won't catch anything putting your arm around and posing with Tecate girls, can't say the same with these four.
The ACLU could shove it for all I care.

Its all TG's fault: "Show us your tits!" was once unique to Indy, but that was one of the first things he "fixed".
I say bring on the sluts and hoes. You don't like it? Don't buy it.
Looking at it from a business angle, I've got to agree with Brick on this one. This series needs to attract sponsors. How would you like to be Dick Eidswick showing a potential sponsor like Step2 or Mattel around and telling them what a great family-friendly atmosphere there is at the track, only to walk around a corner and see Max Hardcore and his whores?
They have nothing positive to offer Champ Car. We don't need them.

I find it interesting that this CHAMPCAR thread is posted in the Other forum, since it seems to be directed at only the LB race.
I hope you never have need of the ACLU, Brickman. What an ignorant attitude.
Nobody should be allowed to distribute promotional materials unless they've paid for a booth - and in that case, they should be limited to the area they paid for.
I'd be just as bothered by random "fans" handing out religious materials, as I would be by "fans" handing out porn promos. (Road America certainly was not happy when Mike Gagliardo's family were handing out their propaganda a couple of years ago.)
I don't have a problem with people handing stuff out, but it should be done in the appropriate place, and by folks who have paid to support the event.
From the sounds of it, what these folks were doing was inappropriate - not because of what they were doing, but because they hadn't paid for the right to do it.
If I were a vender or advertiser at the event I would probably complain. Not because I care about the porn chicks (and skanky ones at that), but because they would be distracting from the marketing I *paid* to for.
The promoter probably has rules about marketing at the event without paying for the privilage. As long as they're not breaking any laws or regulations they shouldn't be treated any differently than someone handing out IRL tickets, coupons or T-shirts without paying for the privilage.

I doubt Champ Car could have done anything about it, other than alert the LBGPA. The LBGPA is ultimately responsible for protecting the image of the LBGP and their own revenue stream (charging people who want to promote their 'wares' on the circuit grounds). All Champ Car does is bring the show and collect their fee.
I'm amazed these folks were allowed to give out promotional coupons. The LBGPA is usually run much, much tighter than that.

In NASCAR's case it states on the back of their tickets "all images, sounds, and data, arising from or during a NASCAR event and NASCAR shall be the sole owner".
The pictures used cannot be used for commercial purposes.
Personally, if the ultimate goal was to promote my hoes, I'd of rented some clean ones anyway.
This collection looks like something outta a grade "C" truckstop. Sadly, if the race was held close to Halloween this crew coulda cleaned up.
I am on Brickmans side on this debate. Since I had no idea about a guy really named Max Hardcore and furthermore not to be able to recognize him, I am a self proclaimed prude.

Ok. So OWRS or whomever the damaged party is has to bring suit after the fact. You can't stop them up front unless you prohibit all other cameras.
What this comes down to is that you don't like something you saw. Too bad. I don't like having to sit next to obnoxious people at sporting events, but that's what it means to go to a public event. It's part of living in a free society.
Unless they violated event rules, there's probably not much that can be done about it.

Let's ask the FCC what the definition of indecent is. on second thought, they make it up as they go...ask Stern.
It boils down to this, if this group of adult industry capitalists are inside the Champ Car paddock, or even inside the gates, and are handing out promotional material for their own business, wouldn't Champ Car have to approve of them doing that? I mean, I assume I just can't go walk around inside the gate and pass out flyer's for my own business. There must be some sort of permit or something I would imagine. If so, Champ Car probably told them, keep your clothes on, keep your language clean and have a nice time.
Where Brickman, Turn7 and I agree is that if you have entity such as Champ Car and they advertise themselves as a family entertainment event but allow or even get to the point where they encourage adult themed marketing within the gate, even though 'technically' they are doing nothing 'wrong' they will lose fans, which is something that no race series is in the business of doing.

I don't care how OWRS handles this. All I know is that I will either spend or not spend my money on an event that I find acceptable or not.
Having to deal with questionable persons such as BM has presented will cause me to stay away. My choice and I am only forcing my views on my family. However, I would wager there are more that have my viewpoint than don't and it would be detrimental to the promoter to continue to allow that sort of activity to take place.
I consider myself a Champ Car fan but, I won't let my enjoyment of a race take precedence over my responsibility to set what a consider to be a proper moral example to my child.

But I don't think they allowed it. I think it was an under the radar thing, not their fault. But some find it exceptable and others don't. Don knew about them and named them on his site, telling me it's OK because they weren't kicked out. Just not a good thing for racing in any series.

I would consider myself a total failure if I ever had to turn to that morally bankrupt group of commies referred to as the ACLU.
I'm the type of guy that would rather turn to my consulting group, Smith and Wesson, before I ever sunk to the level of the ACLU.
I don't care who's around or give a rat's ass if they're working for a porn site, the fact that they're around gives you no right to restrict their public access.
They're not good for bringing in sponsorship, and like JB said, if they're around advertising and shooting for commercial purposes, they ought to be requesting permission and paying their fees to set up shop and to use the images from the event, and then the series or race mgmt can use whatever discretion they want fairly to protect the public image of the event.
man were they fugly...
My $0.02 Cdn (c'mon, you gotta give me that at par... :D ):
First of all, I am most definitely not a prude. Ask the Lunch Bunch. :p
I think Mr. Hardcore, should he wish to peddle his wares, coupons, or anything else, should buy some booth time. While some adults may choose to ignore the sidewalk solicitations pictured above, some will find it too offensive, and it will adversely affect their whole race experience.
Many race series are trying to maintain a 'family-friendly' atmosphere...doesn't mean there ain't a whole schwack of hanky panky going on, but perhaps it could be a tad more discreet; I don't have a problem with the stores displaying Playboy/Penthouse/etc. on the magazine racks, but I do appreciate that those covers are well above the sightlines of my younger kids.
So if race organizers don't mind these sellers being at the races, set aside a booth or two for the very 'mature' themed hawkers, and maybe keep them a distance from the booths selling cotton candy. Interested consumers will no doubt find the booths.
You should think about changing your name to Mapguy of Troy. (Nothing like a little Smallbany humor!)

I do think they should have to follow the rules and pay the same fees as other vendors and advertisers, but is there any proof they didn't. It is a legal business, and my guess is, ChampCar has no legal right to discriminate against them. As the person who took the picture of Max Hardcore I can tell you that it is not up to OWRS or Champcar to police who is purchasing tickets and walking around the circuit. The Grand Prix Association is the event promotor and provides the so called "security'' for the event.
Max and the girls were walking around the race track posing for a lot of pictures from interested fans (as they were at the fan fest) and had more clothing on then some of the other people I saw walking around the course. The best I could tell, as I didn't follow or pay much attention to them, was that they were conducting themselves in a normal manner.
With 75-80,000 people at the race on Sunday you're likely to meet all kinds. If you don't like what somebody stands for just walk away. I doubt you'll see them again.

Each of my Admission tickets have printed on the back of them:
You may not use this ticket for advertising, promotional (including contests and sweepstakes) or other trade purposes without our written consent. No distribution or sale of literature, other materials or merchandise is allowed on our property or other licensed premises.
We reserve the right to remove you from our property, without refund, if your behavior is offensive or poses a hazard to others.
I don't know what the disclaimer is on the reverse side of an Exhibitor ticket.
At any rate, it seems to me if the LBGP wanted to protect any minors from any objectionable material being distributed or simply enforce their own rules re: material distribution (and improve the mean dress-code average) they were well within their right to do so.
Brickman, rather than complaining to us about this, did you make your feelings known to anyone at the track, either associated with the promotion of the even or OWRS? I'm not saying I liked seeing them, nor would I want them around in the first place, but I don't see how you're allowed to turn someone away at the gate for having "maxhardcore" embroidered on the back of their vests as opposed to any other commercial entity, especially when they're just strolling the paddock with their purchased tickets. If you did, what was their repsonse? Did you complain to anyone at the hotel? What was their response. Sure, its not accepted behavior but how many people 'in charge' were aware of it?
Good question SteveH
It is apparent to me, that Brickman is nothing more than a follower.(big surprise there, eh) Rather than take a stand on an issue that arose in the course of his outing at the LBGP, he chose to keep quiet and come back to bitch about it. Must have been a pretty big drop from that high horse....
Sack up buddy. If it bothered you then, you should have done something about it then. Even if it was only to tell a gate person "who is in charge, I would like to talk to them"? You would have missed out on something in the grand scheme of things. Dilligence pays off in these situations. You being in close proximity to their hotel rooms might have led to another episode of uneasiness. Big Deal, you feel the way you do, take a stand. The guy didnt look that big a swift kick to the Johnson would have set him back a day or two...
My thoughts, they should have been tossed out of the paddock for sure. It could have been done. Might have took a little effort. I once had an audience with Barb Trueman at Mid Ohio. I missed some practice, but got my answer. It worked out positive (this was over advance parking sales and handicapped racefans)
Any organization that hangs it's hat on family entertainment can not let this sort of thing happen. Autoracing is on pretty shakey ground, as it is a bloodsport in the first place.

PS- Those gals where very skanky, and that guys movies are some of the worst films made, IMO of course.

I don't have any use for Max and the other diseased beings making XXX. But am I greatly offended by them? Nah! How is this any worse than the Marlboro Girls or the Tecate Girls?
Unless you stop and chat with them, you'd only be near them for 10 seconds or so. Sorry, I just don't see that it's a big deal. Drunks and rednecks at races get on my nerves a LOT more than these skanks would. Drunks fall down on people, gawk at your girl, throw up, etc. Rednecks have to prove to their buddies that they're real men by acting stupid and/or yelling at the drivers... or other fans - then they get drunk, fall down on you and gawk at your girl before throwing up (the light bulb goes off: I just remembered why I don't attend NASCAR races anymore).
I figure the worse that would happen with one of these gutter sluts is they'd pop in front of you and try to hand you a coupon. Look 'em in the eye. Say, "move it or lose it!", and just keep walking. They're like bums... just ignore them.

That's It.
Max Hardcore Porn was showing off his.... whores at LB in the paddock. I didn't find an official but am wondering if I should have, the rent a security wasn't interested.
Is THAT who that was?
All this time I thought it was a rare appearance by Dr. Luv Glove & Pleasure Mittens!

Yea I'm prudish, even asked Don to think about taking the pics off his website, but no, he equated them to Tecate girls. You won't catch anything putting your arm around and posing with Tecate girls, can't say the same with these four.
The ACLU could shove it for all I care.
Are you saying no one puts their arm around and poses with Tecate girls? Because that sure as hell wasn't true from what I saw.

I think he means that the Tecate girls aren't repositories of pestilence & disease.
But I could be mistaken.
Actually, from the pics, I'd put my arm around anyone of those skanks.
for a cool $5.00 you understand.

At any rate, it seems to me if the LBGP wanted to protect any minors from any objectionable material being distributed they were well within their right to do so.
Yep. And, if they were handing out any promotional materials, they should have had to purchase a booth.
I have no problem with Penthouse/Playboy/etc. type of motorsports sponsorships, because companies like that are pretty sensitive to these types of concerns, and handle it appropriately. Bottom-feeder, degrading, gonzo porn types are a different animal, and should be treated as such.

Well... I have never been in a fight and kicking some guy in the "Johnson" who is a porn star wouldn't accomplish a thing. (besides the fact that he probably has nn anyways) Yes I asked a yellow shirt if there was somebody around. But this was the paddock and the guys watching the entrance or the exit weren't anything more than just that. They couldn't point me in the direction of anyone.
Inside the paddock it was lunch time, I didn't see any ChampCar officials around, don't even know what color polos they wear this year. I didn't bother anyone in hospitality area of Haas (which seemed the most active).
At the time when I was in the hotel there was paperwork under my door for a Call shooting schedule, 5:45 AM so part of me thought maybe it was some movie deal, when passing by their room to the track I saw cardboard boxes stacked up. So I didn't contact hotel management about their appearence. Max had commented something to be in the elevator and I wasn't directly looking them over but observing through the reflection of the gold doors, so I didn't see his .com patches. The only thing I would have been uneasy with is if my wife had finished her nap early and was at the elevator when it opened up.
I tend to make comments when people do stupid things. While waiting in line at King Taco, fans decided to cut straight through five sets of lines, even a gal on a scooter did so. Yes I spoke up LOUDLY. What's wrong with walking around? Maybe watching Charles Osgood's report on CBS Sunday morning stuck feature about "Tokyo’s famed lost and found" stuck with me how much America has changed.
I did e-mail Don when I heard about the pics on his site. He equated them to Tecate girls and didn't agree with me. Said somethiing about we're hear to tell the truth, Champ Car didn't kick them out so...
That's why I posted here. To vent and see if I'm prude boy, the race was good not great and my wife prefers LB to Fontana. So I wasn't looking for something to slam.

Not that I was particularly offended by the fact that Max Hardcore was there, since I was already offended by the pollution to the gene pool half the LB crowd has already done, but I was rather offended that of all the porn stars that were in LA he brought 3 of nastiest ones there. I swear one of them had more wrinkles on her ass than Mary Hulman George's face.

I agree, I was doing an article for a Religious Magazine and I watched all of his Movies and they are the Worst Films Ever Made, ( Except for maybe Heaven's Gate ) and the Women ARE the Skankiest women on earth... But then I saw Courtney Love on Letterman !

You seem to be the kind of person that makes having an organization like the ACLU very necessary in this country.

Anait got me thinking...how about a 'red light district' at the race. They could drap black curtains to close off underneath the bleachers. It would be an adult version of the high school 'sneak a kiss under the bleacher' scene. "Honey, I'm going for another beer." "but you just got back dear" :saywhat:  :D

THEY were attracting a crowd? I've seen hotter girls panhandling in front of the airport for dental surgery than those three!
In this case I'd say this definitely shouldn't be allowed at the track. Don't need to scare away sponsors.
Yeah drag queens should be turned away! Man that is just NASTY!!! Shoreline is a long walk from Santa Monica BLVD.
That pic reminds me of a Pizza Hut coupon.

As others have posted, if they wanted to hand out their promotional literature, then they should have purchased an exhibitor's booth to do so.
The clause on the back of the ticket seems pretty comprehensive, but if you're desperate for a 'technicality' to throw them out on, recall that shorts are not allowed in the paddock.
I'm guessing they didn't have proper credentials, but slipped under the radar. If they DID in fact have the proper credentials, then presumably within their rights to be conducting business as they were.
