What a bunch of morons! Throwing beer cans on the track to express displeasure at the outcome of the race.

Earnhardt Jr: "He Pass Me Under Yellow!"
Uh, I don't think those were Jeff Gordon fans there EDwardo. Those were Dale's. And their behavior is disgraceful.

If I was ever a spectator and saw another "fan" next to me hurl something onto the track, I would have to be physically restrained from going after said "fan".
Idiotic is not even the word I think of calling them.
Dale Sr. drove with total disregard for the safety of the other drivers on the track. Seems the fans of his son have the same attitude.
The comments after the race, "160,000 fans and your bound to get a few idiots" ,,,, and there had to be 5000 beer cans on the track. Racermike, you would have had your hands full going after that crowd....

What's next, throwing stuff at the drivers you hate during the race?

The folks that threw their cans on the track were not upset that the race ended under yellow, they were upset at WHO won the race...A wonderful example of Fans Against Gordon showing their true colours... :shakehead
Those "fans" displayed the same "class" that their driver did on the track..one of these days JR's antics are gonna get someone hurt....
It's just around the corner.
Dont get me started

Why not? Fans of the Cleveland Browns have made a fine example of throwing crap at players during a game. Why should we expect any better behavior from so-called "race" fan gomers? :p

I was just about to ask if the Dawg Pound was invited to the race! ;)

I wish they'd just blow up that track already and make sure all of NASCAR's supply of restrictor plates were on the property as well.

The real idiot was Dale jr. and his comment about this sport needing this kind of emotion.

I dont think they would have thrown stuff if Gordon had won that race under green. Oh well, one reason I like road racing is they hardly ever throw a caution, much less end a race under yellow. :)

I was in the stands at Indianapolis Raceway Park for the Busch race the night (or two) before the Brickyard 400 a few years ago. DE Jr. was still full time BGN then, and ran up front in the race all night. A couple laps to go, while leading, he got passed, or bumped out of the way... something like that, and finished second or third. As the cars crossed the finish line (I was about 100 yards or so past it), the guy in directly front of me, in his DE Sr. shirt and DE Jr. hat, threw his full can of beer on the track. I saw it hit the track and sparks fly when a car hit it, still at nearly full speed. I said, loud enough to be heard over the noise, "That was really stupid, buddy". Before he could turn around, his friend grabbed him by the arm, and down the row they went, on their way out.
A real Bubba... :shakehead

I think they should Totally Enclose all the NASCAR tracks and put a neon sign out front that repeatedly flashes "Titty Bar" so you could better understand and forgive this behavior !
It's alway's that 20 - 30,000 that spoil it for the others!!!! ;)

I partially disagree TB.... A couple years back, Michael Waltrip won the Pepsi 500 (night Daytona race) because of a late caution. If you watched it, the backstretch seats threw everything but the kitchen sink onto the track.... Garbage, seat cushions, you name it. I think, in this incident, finishing under yellow when people thought they could do one of their 'quickie yellows' and get 2 more laps of bashing cars at 195 mph, was a major reason why people threw stuff. I do believe some of it was because of who won, and some of it was because of who came in second, and didn't finish first.
One thing I did notice in those final laps.... The Tony Stewart spinout. If that car had launched, the angle would have possibly launched the car into the infield around the paddock. There was only very low catch fencing there.

Somehow, a scene from the movie "Blues Brothers" comes to mind. The one when they were playing in the redneck bar and the stage was shielded with chicken wire as the beer bottles, etc. bounced off it.

I haven't seen the race but I fear the yobbos are taking over and not just in our (racing) sport. I've just watched a clip from Aussie Rules in Melbourne and the fans there are spitting at their Team and coach.

The epoxy dipped dog biscuits were much more dangerous than the old poop. Just wait until the DE, Jr. fans start tossing their full Bud cans out there early in the race. :saywhat:

Ironic that the NASCAR line is a 'true family sport", given the behaviour of the fans. I am suprised that some east coast liberal newspaper writer has not jumped on the hypocrisy of NASCAR's defenders or the France family.

I thought that was Road house with Patrick Swayze.
Wow! Sounds like I turned off the race too quickly yesterday. I wondered how the red hatted crowd would take the call of Gordon in the lead when the yellow fell, Now I know. :shakehead

There is also a scene in The Simpsons where an "adult" Bart plays in a band that would make air guitar sound good behind a fence of laser beams. :D

I think the fans were just trying to pitch in and help clean the stands. Its much easier to scoop up the trash on the track with a front end loader than to have a hundred workers pick up the trash from the seats. :gomer:
They're feed buckets for fans like this:

What a waste of perfectly good beer. ;)
Morons! The bubba fans showed their true colors. :flame:

They are beer buckets.
You get 4 beers in a bucket of ice. Saves you a buck instead of getting them individually and you get a fancy Talledaga Logo'ed serving bowl for the double wide.
...and today I was behind a late 90's Chevy Blazer with a big red #3 and the words, "Long Live the Intimidator" across the whole back window.... :gomer:
...Should a thrown a can at him.... ;)

Why would you need ice? I'm guessing 4 beers will stay cold during the 5 minutes it takes bubba to drink them. Seems like a waste to me.
Over-the-air radio transmission was saying that some cars were running with elevated water and oil temps.
Fans were jist tryin' ta save their fav drivers from pittin' is all. What are y'all stoopid or sump'n? :gomer:

from Ben Blake on SPEED.com:
"The race could have been restarted except for the reaction of the spectators, who, realizing their darling had been set back in favor of their worst nightmare, heaved everything in their artillery over the fence and onto the track, bringing the event to a disorderly conclusion. The race finished under caution, with Gordon ahead.
NASCAR president Mike Helton has said the yellow-flag policies are a matter of educating officials and competitors. He might also have said that the customers need a little education, if that is possible among the Budweiser-educated crowd which typically attends Talladega races."

Whoa! I cant believe Mike Helton said that, I always thought he was a spineless twit who was just Bill France's tool. Thank god he said what needed to be said!
