Whats the over/under for wrecked tubs by the Foyts?
Steve
After two hours of practice there have been 19 crapwagons on track (including a couple of T cars).
Not a Foyt in sight. They must be sandbagging.
Day 1
33 A.J. Foyt IV (14) 32.3673 73.3210 122.748 3 D/T/F Pit

Isn't the speed limit on 465 still 65mph?
That boy's gonna get his ass tossed in jail, unless he slows down some. ;)

The great Foyt team will blow their engines. AJ will select a low gear to scoot his kids out of the turns to scare em and run decent speeds, but the engines will protest hitting the rev. limiter too much and blow! That is futulity!

An alarming report tonight from WTHR was a clip of Mario "advising" Mikey and Company. :shakehead Tomorrow night they are promoting Mario's flip of last year and touring his new house. I guess blood is thicker than water but it sure hurts this fan to see him there.
Another observation was from the WTHR skycam. Granted it was shakey weather today, but there was absolutely nobody there for "happy hour." I'm sure Dave Calabro will be questioned for having so many empties shown on a live telecast. :gomer:

Foyt may fire his grandson. We have been saying for two years now that AJ
Foyt IV is riding on his grandfather's coattails and is in way over his
head. Well it seems grandpa is finally starting to realize it. According
to TrackSide Online, there may be problems brewing in the Foyt garage. "A.J.
is on A.J. IV. He just told the team to take the car in and he will get
someone else to drive. He again said that if Foyt IV is not careful he is
going to be watching the race from the grandstand."

I think we are looking at this futility thing wrong. AJ knows how dumbed down both NASCAR and the IRL has become. He knows he does not have the cubic $$$ to get to the top. Why not hire the family as drivers? Talent is not neccessary to quality, and family is cheap help. Given that, in some quarters in the penny wise- pound foolish world we live in, that strategy might be considered clever!

Carb Day Futility
AJ4 only 1.9 seconds slower than fast man of the day, that former sprint car ace, Kosuke Matsuura!
Larry clocks in only 1.4 seconds off the pace!
Something else I noticed. Larry is in a G Force and four is in a Dallara. Could they make it anymore difficult?
Carb Day Futility
24 Larry Foyt (41) 1.4036 42.4572 211.978
25 Scott Sharp (8) 1.4634 42.5170 211.680
26 Ed Carpenter (52) 1.4842 42.5378 211.577
27 Tora Takagi (12) 1.4868 42.5404 211.564
28 PJ Jones (98) 1.5660 42.6196 211.170
29 A.J. Foyt IV (14) 1.8168 42.8704 209.935
If this is anywhere near where the lap speeds will be on race day they might be lapped before the first pit stops. If they don't find the wall first.

AJ Sr. still collects the starting money, despite whether they crash or get lapped before the first pit stop. The old man keeps going because he does not know what to do with himself otherwise. Unlike Mario, who developed a few hobbies outside of racing, like making wine and doing public appearences.
IV has stuffed it into the wall and will finish 33rd.
I knew we could count on Foitility come raceday.

From the sounds of things, AJ4 might not have last place locked up. Perhaps hes going for the Greg Ray award. :D

I was scanning the ABC spotters, by lap two they were shouting to keep a camera on IV.
and I don't think they were expecting a charge to the front
Well - the Foyts surely made the greatest spectacle of themselves.
Cribbed from the Star:
Bad day
A.J. Foyt IV had a difficult day. Driving a car owned by his grandfather and four-time Indy 500 winner A.J. Foyt, the younger Foyt hit the wall on the 10th lap.
After a 1 hour, 47-minute rain delay, Foyt returned to the track. During the restart, the elder Foyt barked, "What's going on Anthony, you ready? You're going to be lapped if you don't get going. (Bleep), I told you it was green.
"Come on down to the bottom and let 'em all go by, then pick it up."
A few laps after the restart, it wasn't much better.
Foyt: "This is what I've been telling you all month, you gotta accelerate when you get out there and not jack around. Now what's the car doing?"
A.J. IV: "I can't really tell you what the car's doing because there are cars all around the racetrack."
Foyt: "The best thing to do is just park it because for some reason you just jack around out there."

But then you realize that your dealing with a border line Phsychotic!!

At some point, you do have to feel bad for AJ IV and Larry. They're bad - and AJ IV has been isolated from serious competition throughout his career - but I'm not sure that they deserve the A-hole treatment they're getting from their "car owner."

They are getting the same treatment any other driver got from AJ. Small wonder he can only get his untalented kids to drive for him anymore.

Amazing, Foyt the ole man can't give his family guns a safe set up. PUSH,PUSH goes the red crapwagons.
You guys are missing the beauty of all of this. Anthony's crew pushing his car back into Gasoline Alley, right under the jumbotron while Lightning Larry stacks it up. They actually stopped to watch it

For some reason, I knew that Larrys sponsor, "BAM", was not a good omen.
Having a sponsor on the car that sounds the same as when you smack the wall, is asking for trouble.

I hadn't noticed this.
Actually I was down the hall on the 'putey when the race started. Wife stolls by the computer room and I axe her if the race is on yet. She said that they're under yellow. I says "for who". She says "I dunno, I think one of the Foyts". I about spit water on the screen. Then Larry.
Poor Bastiges. Wouldn't have wanted to be them for all the sammitches in the world at that point. :shakehead

Wow, this edition of the Foty Futility Watch will be hard to surpass! Maybe if Foyt runs 3 cars?

Maybe they can supersize a Dallara tub and slip AJ Hisself into it next year with the help of Tony's supply of Astroglide?
