Or so this stick and ball writer thought, until he got a ride in the 2 seater Champ Car yesterday, here in Portland.

Jon Canzano is a guy who sort of poo-pooed racing in the past.

Not anymore.

I heard him on the radio yesterday and he was talking to a local sports radio host who also got a ride and was converted. they were basically amazed. Both said they had know idea how athletic it really was, until now.

Champ Car needs to do this year after year in every market they race, and even ones that they dont.

Stick that Denver "writer" Woody Paige in the two-seater. He'd be the first to wussy out and press the panic button, for sure.

Nah.... i'll lay my money on that wimp of a motorsport writer for the Lima News pressing the panic button first, John Hullinger.

I think that if ole Bob Jenkins is retained as a ChampCar announcer, HE should get a ride in the two seater. If the ride doesn't make him piss out all the kool-aid and make him more enthusiastic in the booth, then ChampCar should can his ass.

Which, of course, is why technicians installed the red panic button. Push the button and a message scrolls across the driver's steering column, reading, "Your passenger has just (bleeped) his pants."

Funny article. The best thing however is that OWRS and Portland promoter Global Events is using every concievable opportunity to raise awareness of the race this year. Using the two seater as a tool to get local stick and ball writers hooked is one of the best guerrilla marketing tactics yet.

And here's the photo and article as it that ran on the front of the sports page today. The Oregonian has a daily circulation of 700,000 papers. Not bad.

Has Robin Miller had a ride yet? The car has been around a few years and I would hope that RM was given the honor of at least riding for a few laps. I think he would love to drive again, even considering his 'maturity.'

I don't recall Miller writing about any experience (driving or riding) lately.

I thought Miller got a ride with Mario in the 2 seater at Laguna Seca a couple of years ago. As I recall he said Mario was lapping with the leaders with Robin on board!!!
