and I'm not talking about the DiP or Crapwagons. What is the strangest race car you have ever seen?
Here is one that I found:

Herbie!
I saw one of the new Beetle's a few months back that was painted like Herbie, racing stripes, the number 53 and all.
(Sorry, didn't mean to get off topic)

This needs no further comment.

HERBIE and DRAGULA in the same thread! :)
That Shadow had 10" X 11" front wheels with 17" tall tires, the idea being to reduce frontal area and drag with around a 12 sq ft cross section. It was originally intended to be wingless.
Overall It failed.
That pic is mislabled too - that's an MK IV not a I

How do you know it's a Mk IV?
I only ask because Franco, who labeled it, says it is the same car as driven by Follmer at Mosport.

I was thinking it was an oversized kart with a HUGE Chebby V-8!

A CV!
No wonder the French are revered for their ability to surrender.:p
The AVS MK I never raced. The original car was supposed to be wingless to keep frontal area to an absolute minimum in the interest of low areo drag.
About why the AVS MK IV? The AVS Shadow was the original one and got different designations along the way. This is from a Shadow webpage - I'll try to dig up the link. Please remind me if I forget.

That was an IMSA GTP car? Do you have any more info on it? I have never seen that one before.

We took that photo at the inaugural Columbus 500, I think in 1985. The GTP entry list said it was a "Cosworth Mantac" and was in GTP lights. I believe it was a local team. I'll check later and see if we have any more information on it.
It is one ugly car.
