I was outside for a while and came in to hear Paul "The Tool" Page and Jack "Braying Ass" Arute saying something about someone breaking in to SF's pit frequency. Paul Page was saying he hoped the person got caught. What happened?

I'm guessing it had something to do with Bif.

Must have been Kellner. This is just about the only Indy thing he hasn't started a thread on yet. ;)

That's a bit crazy. Imagine if someone got on during green and said "yellow, yellow, yellow" to the leader? Talk about changing the outcome of a race. They'd be back to encrypted radio transmission in a heart beat.

Did anyone else witness those voices in her head?

Fisher, the third woman ever to qualify for the 500, started 19th Sunday and finished 21st. It was her best 500 finish -- and only the second 500 she has completed -- in a career marked by three early retirements due to crashes

Kinda says it all, doesn't it...

Bit of a let down - that had SO much potential!

Good advice, though - try to go faster, Sarah...

How would one go about filing a complaint against an unknown fan, anyway?

The clueless duo,Paul Page and Jack Arute were saying they hoped the fan would get fined by the FCC. How do you fine someone for using a frequency that's part of the public airwaves? I think the FCC should fine ABC for lieing about attendance figures. Doesn't ABC sell time to advertisers based on figures like these?

Depending on the frequencies, you still need a license to broadcast on public airwaves. Broadcasting without one is fineable. I have no idea what frequencies they communicate on and how/who assigns them. That would be a start to see if anything can be done. I doubt they would have the equipment at the track to locate the fan.

The frequencies they use you do not have to have a license. They were the same frequencies I would use when I had a race car.

Nappy is correct.

900 mgz band radio, like an expensive walkie talkie

You mean I missed my opportunity to f*** with your radio while racing? Damn, if I knew that I'd actually have gone to see you race just to do that!

Sell that car yet, BTW?

I remember something similar happening at MIS in 1999. I was listening to Al Unser Jr.'s (Penske) channel. During a caution, a female voice came on and said, "Hi Al."

Surprised, Unser Jr. replied, "Who was that?"

Roger says "I don't know".

There was a period of silence, then Roger and Al appeared to resume 'normal communication.' I always thought it was pretty bizarre, but after yesterday's happenings and in hindsight, I'm surprised it doesn't happen a lot more often.

Some kid in Kent bought it and took delivery of it 2 weeks ago. You would have thought I was delivering his first kid.

My brother will let me use his car to do Watkins Glen and maybe one or 2 other tracks before I totally hang it up.

The frequencies they use you do not have to have a license. They were the same frequencies I would use when I had a race car.I have some, ahem, experience with this. In CART, the teams had FCC licenses for a few freqs. You show up at the track and start listening for a clear channel. If someone is using yours, you try another. If they are all being used, you hope it's for a nine-to-five outfit (ie., clear on Sat. and Sun.). Else, you are screwed. The teams get a few channels in UHF and a few in 800 MHz band (USA use only). The only unlicensed freqs that I know of in the US are the FRS ones, and even those require a license if you are over 2 Watts, I think. Also, the 49 MHz cordless phones, garage door freq band, etc.
