18 mpg out of a 7.3 liter engine is great milage. Just think if it were buring gas. That 18 mpg would be in the 8-9 mpg range. :thumbup:

I have the v-10 in my truck. I am getting 12 in town and 15 on the highway. With 130000 miles on it, I have spent 1800 dollars more on the reduced milage from the gas than what the diesel fuel would have cost. However, the diesel option would of cost an extra 4500 up front. The diesel wouln't pay for itself until around the 250,000 mile mark and that isn't taking into account having the extra 4500 not being in my pocket or bank account gaining intrest.

I hope I have a new vehicle prior to me reaching that mark.

Why didn't he just keep the Civic???


We still have the Civic. And if it ends up taking longer to finish the conversion of the truck than we thought, he'll start using the Civic to commute again.

We bought the truck to use during the construction of our new house (possibly next spring). Since we were going to buy a truck anyway, we decided to get a diesel to do the conversion and see how well an alternative fuel worked - especially a fuel that people pay to have taken away. Mr anait's been driving the truck for a few weeks, rather than the Civic, to get a feel for it, get to know its quirks.
