Milwaukee carry-in rules

They got a new vendor and now there are NO carry-ins of any food and beverages in the grandstands or bleachers. Not just no coolers, but you can't even tuck snacks and juice bags for your kids in a camera bag or they will be discarded at the gate. Not very fan friendly :mad: The drunks in the infield are good to go since coolers are still allowed there.

Thank god.For what? Infield drunks or no carry-ins in the grandstands? I may be wrong, but I think you can buy their crap and eat it in the seats, but oh the horror if a fan should bring some decent food of their own after spending $200 on tickets. *******s.............even Nascar and IMS are smarter than this. Nothing like being frisked at the gate and then bending over for a warm $6.00 Miller light and a $5.00 bag of popcorn.

I wonder how many vendors will have toddler and baby food? How about formula? Last time I was there I noticed a lot of children under age 3. I would like to see the look on a parents face when someone takes thier baby food or formula! I also wonder how many vendors will have "childrens food".

Is this only for race day? What about the other days when people often go between the infield and the grandstands?

They've allienated me enough with the 2 for 1 ticket deal. After buying 6-10 seats everyyear for the last 15 years or so,I get hosed.... I get stuck because I renew my same seats every year....a loyal customer.....I know enough not to eat their crappy food and don't buy beer when I'm in the stands.... :thumdown:

Did you try any of the Mexican food? They had that beef they cut off in thin slices as they cook it wit a tortilla DAMN THAT CRAP IS GREAT! :)

Ok now a question about can't carry in the beer. All the vendors on the outside of stands are going to get screwed your saying? If I buy a beer at a stand outside of the grandstand I sure as hell best be able to take it in. Or I won't be buying it there.And if thats the case sales out there are going to go way down and a few vendors will be getting upset.

Can't blame Champcar, its not their track. But this is very, very dumb.

Why deliberatly piss people off, especially parents who have to lug crap for their kids everywhere? And if a parent brings several kids to the race, are they expecting the parent to lug all the kids to the consession every time one get thirsty? Or does the parent leave some or all of them alone in the stands while he waits on line for a hot dog?

Given how small bags must be to get in these days, there is not much fans can bring in anyway. The truly thirsty and hungry fan will wind up buying something anyway.

Rocket just reminded me of something.

Last year I brought my backpack in and had a big thermos of coffee in it. I also had about a 12-pack stuffed in various coat pockets*.

Where there's a will, there's a way. And I'll do whatever it takes to avoid drinking Miller beer, let alone paying for it.

Grandstand & Bleacher Carry-In: To ensure that all patrons have a safe and enjoyable visit to The Milwaukee Mile, the following items will not be permitted to be carried into the Grandstand and Bleacher seating areas: Alcoholic Beverages, Coolers of any size, Food or Beverages, Umbrellas, Noisemakers of any kind, Helium balloons and beach balls, Glass containers, Illegal drugs, Weapons of any kind, Fireworks, Folding chairs, Any other items that in the judgment of The Milwaukee Mile pose a safety hazard or diminish the enjoyment of an event by other patrons.

---Note, they are basically saying children are not allowed in the bleechers or grandstands any ways: "Noisemakers of any kind" ;)

Also read somewhere on the site that children 2 and under are admitted free. Is that becoming the new standard policy at tracks? To charge admission for children age 3 and up? :confused:

When my buddies and I used to go bowling we would take the balls out of the bags and fill the bags with beer. We would then buy a pitcher of beer and get the mugs with the beer. That was one never ending pitcher!! After we were done bowling and out of beer, the pitcher and mugs went into the bags!!

Get your hand stamped, go out to your car, drink your drink, eat your snack, feed your kid, then go back to your seat.

After attending several road races, I find sitting in grandstands terribly boring. The last couple of times I went to Milwaukee, I watched the race from behind PT's pit and ocassionally walked to the turns to watch the entry and exit lines the drivers were taking. I was able to follow the race quite easily and found the perspective to be new and exciting.

I know at Surfers they check all bags going in to the stands but we have had no problems with security so far. ;) The things they are looking for are "booze not of the sponsors make" and "drinks in glass containers". I think that's a fair effort on their part considering the sheer volume of people going through the gates.

I suppose they look for guns, bombs and such like but nobody has asked me if I'm packin'. ;)

They were pretty lax last night. Friends and I walked in to the infield with some sammiches and a couple soft drinkies we picked up along the way. Snarfed that down pretty quickly and headed over to turn 3 with our arms swinging. Its nice having internet friends who have extra beers. :thumbup:

Actually, when we were there yesterday, they told us that as long as it was plastic, they weren't gonna ban it {ie: bottles of water, etc}...all of the gate workers were very nice to us, and we really had no problems.
