View Full Version : Foyt Futility Watch 6/10 - 6/12
The Futility is back and their gonna be in trouble!
Hey, la! Hey, la! The Futility is back!
A couple of practice sessions in the late afternoon and early evening. The quals at 9:45 pm EDT. Plenty of time for AJ4 to jack around on the track and get Sammich riled.
Stay tuned for the Futility as it develops.
The Foyt Futility Watch, the one redeeming quality of the IRL. :D

But he won't be DFL...
Sometimes I actually feel sorry for that kid.

Just saw this on Jayski's site:
So..what's up with Larry Foyt? part time Cup driver, #14-Larry Foyt, who competed in the Indy 500 two weeks ago, isn't driving in the Bombardier 500, but he is working during the race. Larry is the spotter this weekend for his nephew, A.J. Foyt IV. Team owner A.J. Foyt Jr. asked Larry to help out. "I think it's better to have a driver serve as the spotter," A.J. said. "Drivers see things in a different perspective and are better able to relate that information to fellow drivers

Larry will just help AJ4 find the wall sooner.

Then why use Larry instead of a driver? :)

Though I was thinking this... I laughed when I saw it written anyway.
Don't know what's scarier... Eye-Vee driving or Brother Larry spotting!!

If the Kelley/Sharp combination was a horse, it'd be put down.

AJ4 starts his march backwards on lap 15...
Lap 38 and AJ4 runs out of talent and officially claims another DFL for the illustrious Foyt Racing Team!
Lap 46 and Mr. Ed -- not to be outdone -- runs out of talent, too! Shreds carbon fibre all over the place and makes a convenient fire for a weinie roast.
Anyone care to speculate about why the inheritors are last and next to last?

cause the inheritors are no talent hacks?
Foyt is DFL yet again?
Big show of hands of the people who didn't see this coming.

what we've got here is a failure to abstinate!
Ed "the short track hero" Carpenter (an honorary member of the lucky ***** brigade) runs out of brains and just about rearends Scott (not so) Sharp and jerks up into the path of an errant Flyin Foyt shearing the front of Quatro's s****box about half off. Fourth generation Foyt proceeds to clout the always present modified gaurdrail and remain coherint enough to give another Peyton Manning impression to a pit reporter.
As an added attraction Ed "the short track hero" Carpenter remains in the race long enough to hunt out a little highlite action for himself.
Nepotism Fever
catch it!
(Ed just admitted to ignoring Barron's warning of a bent suspension)

Now, is anybody suprised to see Al Unser, Jr. last among those still running?
Gweg Ray is right on Helio's rear looking for a way into 13th place.
Is anyone suprised?

does Barnhart always make his yellow flag decisions based on the path of the car following the blow up?

Insanity----guys touching each other at that speed is just nuts! Hope nobody gets hurt.
Porky Page says there is 90K there. I wonder how many are freebies. :gomer:

In the final laps Porky upped his guess to 100k.
Tony George, Brian Barnhardt and company are sheer geniuses. They have managed to create cars that are so gutless and easy to drive that they can bump and bang wheels without spinning out. Many drivers, especially Manning, exploited this phenomenon and pushed and shoved each other all night. Rubbin' is racin'. Way to go guys!
The most frightening part was when Rice and Manning collided at the end of the backstretch. We all know what happened the last time the #15 Rahal car tangled with a Target car there...

Not a single hand for the entire season. Might as well bring back Dr. Jack to replace IV or Carpenter.
Oh and kudos to Barron. Gets more done with less engine and less team than anyone.

as I saw the familiar green & white livery grind against the wall, I couldn't help myself to laugh and wonder how many other people were also in on the joke

Dr. Jack usually had the good sense to be scared and park it before he crashed. A bit frustrating for his crew (having a driver park a functioning car), but safer for everyone involved.
