What threw me is that they used the GP track at Indy as the track diagram in the upper right.
The race was run at the club level road circuit at IRP. It would be generous to say that there were 300 paying spectators there that day. I went because it was there and a friend at Rohr called to say they could use a gofer on Saturday.
I think the Momo Ferrari 333SP took the main event but it could have been the Andy Evans car. All those damned Ferraris were RED. ;) James Weaver put on a nice show to place third behind a couple of 333SPs in his underpowered Spice-Ferrari V8.
Scott Lagasse was embarassing to watch in a kluged up Consulier-Chevy WCS. Oliver Kuttner was there in a BMW V8 powered sled only noteworthy because it had it's sponsor's bean oil product in the crankcase and left a huge blue mist behind it while looking for all the world like it was powered by huge a model airplane two-stroke. Bobby Brown and others were making up the WSC field in various Buick V6 powered chassis that must have been revised Lights car.
On the whole, a less than inspiring event and the GTS cars were much more interesting. In retrospect, though, WSC looked better than Daytona Coupes as a fledgling class. At least they had a few real race cars and weren't humbled by GTU Porsches...
