Nice to see Jacques talking about his father. He does seem to avoid the subject.

well, his father died when he was young. Perhaps he doesn't feel the attachment to his father that others expect him to feel. Just a guess.

“Up until now, I felt that I had to place a barrier between me and my father. It wasn’t because I had a problem but because it was important to do things in my own way. Inside it was important to know that I was driving for myself and not simply to continue what he had begun. It has been like this throughout my career. If I had done something like this previously, I would have had to do it on the demand of a sponsor or a team. This year, I had no obligation, I came here purely by choice.” Some pics:

Cool! That's actually Nick Mason's car (Pink Floyd) - the man has quite a collection these days. Man, I need to get my photos online - I have some shots of Reutemann sitting in that car at Goodwood a few years back.
There is now video clips HERE (http://jv-world.com/EN/Formula_1_2001/Breaking_News/page_21_6834.shtml)

Dang, the link must not be working - I saw some guy who was supposed to be Jaques, but he was smiling, posing for photos, and having fun with the fans. Then he was talking about how his uncle was loaning him the helmet for the event - that can't be right... :p
Thanks for sharing, that's really cool to see!

Wow. Just Wow.
I would really like to see jacques back in F-1 next year.
Shame they used the 312-T3 and not the T-4. The T-4 was gorgeous.

Wow, sends chills down your spine indeed.
There has always been one driver I regret the most about never being able to see race, and it obviously was Gilles. :(
watching JV describe the car, it makes me wonder if Gilles would've survived his crash in today's car.

Probably, but impossible to say for sure. Even with all of the advancements, cars can still break apart and tubs can fail. Not like the aluminum/magnesium days, but things can still go wrong. Thankfully, we haven't had a massive tub failure since Martin Donnelly's career ending crash. It was a miracle he survived.
Here is SPEED TV listings for coverage of this event. Hopefully there will be camera time of Jacques in his father's Ferrari.

Thanks, Ted, I was trying to set the Tivo last night but couldn't find it.
By the way, try explaining "AutoRotica" to your mother-in-law as she walks into the livingroom when setting the Tivo!
