It's official: Nobody pays for Honda Engines.

Only problem is that if Greg's team wanted any, they had to. They didn't, so they've packed up and gone home. They claim they have sponsorship for next season - maybe we'll see them then.

I'm not holding my breath.

I've noticed that what separates the big teams from the little teams in the IRL is an engine deal. The big teams have engine deals, and the little ones dont. Watch how little AGR or Ganassi would become if they were to lose their deal.

According to Honda sources, a certain amount of money was due Ilmor by Thursday evening (July 1st) at 5PM EST. The company gave Access an extension until noon Friday and the team was unable to comply with funding.

"We sincerely regret that Greg Ray and his Access Motorsports team will be unable to complete the 2004 IRL IndyCar Series season," an official statement from Honda said.

Yikes! WTF did they do to him to make him fall on his sword like that in that lil speech at the end of the thread?!

If a person feels he's right, he should stand by his words... whether it's a popular opinion or not. Seems his little "vacation" made him eat the words (and drink the K'Aid). Sad. So you have to become a shem to be a fan over yonder? :shakehead

Looks like they let lorenzobandini back into the asylum, and as he crept back in the front door, cleanupcrew stabbed him in arm with a fresh batch of kool-aid, with an extra cup of sugar.
