View Full Version : Who's paying for the #20 car?
Jeff Simmons puts in a pretty good bid for joining The Futility Watch, but does anybody know who will pay for his membership? That "Stacker2" decal on the engine cover won't cover half the damage he did to the car today.
Before Simmons even hit the track, the following was in the Indy Star:

IRL rookie Jeff Simmons said Friday this race is an audition. He's driving in place of the recently retired Al Unser Jr. at Patrick Racing. Pro Series points leader Thiago Medeiros has been invited to test with Pat Patrick's team here Monday.
Simmons was an IMS favorite back in May - they're the ones that put out the press release that he'd be driving for Mo Nunn. He did the first part of his rookie orientation in one of Foyt's cars.
Now that he got a chance, I have a feeling Operation "Prove that the IPS Can Produce A Driver That Doesn't Crash Every Race" will resume with the Brazilian.

Hmmm... anything left for Thiago to test? Or does he just pay for the parts and show up at the next race?

He gets to sit in the tub and make engine noises tomorrow.
That should be enough to qualify for the Larry Foyt exemption if nothing else.

A Sesame Street press release yesterday said that the color Red was happy with their involvement with Patrick Racing and hoped that their relationship would continue in the future.

Stacker deal is/was a EARL procured sponsorship. A " we have sponsors witing for you if you leave CCWS and come to EARL" enticement.
Prolly traded it for some surplus Greg Ray Self-Tanning Lotion and a stack of Inny FiveHunnert tickets.
The rest is UE's money, some free engines, and the shop is being run out of Derrick Walkers facility. UE will soon see the futility (prolonged only by TonyFare or RideBuyer money) and quit.
Message to UE: No one cares any more. Go home to Arizona.
