Although I was told differently (http://www.offcamber.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2365) once about Canada and NASCAR. I think it's inevitable (http://www.bce.ca/en/news/releases/bg/2004/06/14/71332.html).
They may also race with the IRL at Watkins Glen

The road race at Watkins Glen International is being added to the schedule to ease the financial burden Busch teams will face in having to build special cars for road courses. It would be too costly for the teams to build road-course-specific cars just for Mexico City.
The Watkins Glen race is expected to be held in September, the same weekend the Indy Racing League will debut on the road course

I figure I should supply a link before someone challenges me on this. :)

In a country that hosts three Champ Car events and a Formula One race, NASCAR remains the most popular form of racing for Canadian racing fans in terms of television audience.

That's amazing when you consider they don't even hold a race there.

Ohhh... They set up an office. Let me know when they actually set a date on a (non-existant) track.
There are a few Mexican drivers in Busch. One is Freddy Tame, who is pretty good.

from the King of the Hill episode Beer and Loathing:
HANK: My wife lies to me. My beer company betrays me. Americans are giving Mexicans diarrhea. What the hell is going on here?

Nothing amazing about it really. It's called marketing to the lowest common denominator.
If we were to use pure sales numbers, they would suggest that a Toyota Corrolla is a much better car than a 7 series Bimmer.
They must be, they sell more of them, right?
Also, consider that over 90% of the Canabian population lives within 75 miles of the US border, and they are inundated with American TV and radio, and satellites and cable bring the US to the Arctic, so the "culture" if you will isn't that far removed from mainstream USA.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, (this is for Jono, with an apology to anait, Devilmaster, and anyone that is fond of either/or curling and Vic Rauter) ;)...
TSN, (for the most part a waste of broadcast air), being a marketing partner with Nascar in this new office/marketing deal in Toronto isn't the most unbiased source of reports for all things Nascab, and although Nascab is/has completed the purchase of Cascar, as Mappy has repeatedly stated, there isn't a viable OHval track in Canada longer than 5/8's of a mile, and no plans are afoot to build one.
But there is GOOD NEWS, concerned CART fans!!!!!! Here in the Toronto region, should I ever fall down and sustain a head injury, I can hop into my Jeff Gordon #24 specially prepped Monte Carlo (complete with a FWD V6 of course), and head off to a Volvo heavy truck dealership where, for the small fee of $40,000 in addition to the $160,000 asking price, I can drive off in my new Volvo 780 class 8 special edition Dale Earnhardt Jr. truck, complete with the Bud Red paint in the classic "E" style. Oh, and did I forget the monogrammed leather seats as well?
So, to reply to nrc, there are plenty of :gomer: 's in this country.

I guess if American beer (http://globeandmail.workopolis.com/servlet/Content/qprinter/20040710/RMOLSON10) can also have that "common demoninator" than auto racing could too. You got me to thinking about cars (http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/gw/top10.htm) also.
I think the goal is to be a success in the marketplace where ever the market is, being accepted in that market is key to having a successful product. Regarless if you yourself buy it or not.

Maybe to fund the losses coming from support our favorite motorsports series?

.............to mend fences and crawl into bed with the (sadly) biggest racing entity on the continent and usurp Mumblesthebastards alleged influence on ISC?
Stay tuned.
AR1 will have an update in about 10 minutes or so.

I hadn't thought of that, but I'm glad you did. ISC has a few nice tracks I wouldn't mind seeing back on the schedule, especially at the IRL's expense.

Still forming sentences working on? :p

We continue to educate friends and acquaintances that, No, we do not follow the Nascar or Indy series, we follow the CHAMPCAR series...and we take every opportunity to drum into their uninformed noggins (I say that in love) just why ChampCar is our series of choice. There is precious little promotion of CC, nothing new to tell in that department - all people see is Nascar toys, promos, TV spots, etc. And Indy is just a name to them.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, (this is for Jono, with an apology to anait, Devilmaster, and anyone that is fond of either/or curling and Vic Rauter) ;)...
Oooh, there ya go, toeing that curling line again... :D (Love ya Vic!! ) But I agree with you on the less than unbiased nature of TSN. I used to roll my eyes when somebody got worked up over a network. Not anymore - now I'm wanting to throw remotes at the TV...
