Geodeman will be coming back to Keokuk, Iowa a couple times a year to hunt geodes to bring back and post. I am a collector of fine quality agates. Lake Superior, Laguna, Mexican, Fairburn, Dryhead, Australian. Mostly the Banded and Eye Agates....

Prime geode hunting ground in SE Iowa is near Bonaparte, Iowa in the DesMoines river bed area. That is likely their "many secret areas" That is about 20 miles northwest of Keokuk.

I lived across the river from Keokuk (Hamilton, Illinois) for seven years, and for Keokuk, she is hot.

When they excavate to put in a basement in that part of the world, they end up with a whole dump truck load of geodes, sonst are pretty small. The contractors hate them because they are hery hard and break of the tines on the back-hoe buckets.
