Molson won't comment on leaked memo; says Indy future will be announced soon
Updated at 19:08 on September 20, 2004, EST.
VANCOUVER (CP) - A Molson Canada official refused comment Monday on a leaked memo that suggested the future of the Molson Indy Champ Car race in Vancouver might be in doubt.
David Jones, director of public relations for Molson, said an announcement will be made in a couple of weeks concerning "the full status of the Molson Indy races in Canada." Jones refused to say if Molson will continue sponsoring races in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
"I don't want to make it seem like it's one way or the other," he said in a telephone interview. "We will remain neutral right now and talk about the details when they come up.
"Everything is still in negotiations right now with the exception of Montreal. It's a little too early for us to characterize where the races are going."
