First off, after seeing what the Athens mascots looked like, is it me or do the mascots lately look really dumb?
Second, will they be sued because the chick snowball looks like the cingular logo?
Steve
The guy looks like a marshmallow. :saywhat:
Looks like the Cingular thing and a blue Gumby.

Looks like the Stay Puft Marshmallow man and Pillsbury Doughboy got hooked up and that was the result.

How about these: Expo 2005 mascots (http://www-1.expo2005.or.jp/en/whatexpo/mascot.html)

The inspiration for EXPO 2005 is the marvelous mechanism of nature and the power of life. Learning from the world's vast collection of wisdom and methods of interaction with nature found around the globe, we hope to bring the world together for the creation of a global society allowing the multitude of cultures and civilizations to coexist together.
Wow. Groovy.

They can't fool me! Morizo is just Gossamer in green dye. ;)
Funny how that works too. The other night I was asking a friend of mine if they still bothered having World Expos.

OK, Athens gets the "Lamest Olympic Mascot" award from me. They're even worse than I remember.

What about "Springy the Springfield Spring", does he count as an Olympic mascot?

since opening ceremonies are friday.... ba-bump.
Is it just me? Or is there no hype about these games? Personally, I lost interest in the Olympics in the early 90's. Now it is all about the commercials and athelites trying to get their faces on a box of cereal. WGAF.

Or feel-good stories about how someone's a hero because they finally won after losing 3,869 times in a row. :rolleyes:

There is zero hype in the US, that's for sure. It's sad because the Olympics themselves are so fantastic. I've been to 3 different ones and they are the most amazing events.
When you get back home and have to watch the hatchet job US TV does on them, you want to puke. I don't blame any of you for losing interest. It's thanks to the almighty US TV dollar. The game themselves though, Wow.

Curling! Stock up the couch cooler w/beerz for an evening of watching guys and chicks sweeping the ice!! :) I really like the short track speed skating. It's like motorcycle racing on ice. Amazing stuff. :thumbup:
Also, Pavarotti will appear in the opening ceremonies. The opening and closing ceremonies are usually a good watch, too. :thumbup:

Olympics = too many non-sports.
Non-sports are judged competitions, IMHO.
Speed skating = sport, figure skating = non-sport
Downhill = sport, half-pipe = non-sport
Not saying the participants aren't athletic and talanted...

All that matters with the Olympics is skeleton and the hot female athletes. :cool:

Well, that's the NBC style of broadcasting olympics for ya...... ;)

Was that the piece about the Canadian mens hockey team winning the gold in '02?
;)

Terrance: Wow. Scott really hates us, Phillip.
Phillip: Yes, perhaps he's homophobic.
Terrance: But, we're not gay, Phillip.
Phillip: We're not?
