But wait, it gets better:

Denney went to the hospital dressed in a University of Southern California cheerleaders outfit. He was dressed that way as part of the team's annual hazing of rookies on the last trip of the season.

The outfit included a pair of high white go-go boots. "Our trainers said the boots may have saved Kyle from further injury," said Swain. :saywhat:

I heard this on my way to school, you just beat me to it as far as posting it here.

In other cities with MLB teams, drama means fighting for a playoff spot. In Cleveland, it means cross dressing rookies getting shot on the team bus during a hazing ritual.

Cleveland Indians rookie pitcher Kyle Denney, dressed as a USC cheerleader, signs autographs outside Kauffman Stadium before boarding the team bus for the airport following the Indians game against the Kansas City Royals in Kansas City, Mo, Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004. Denney was dressed in the outfit for the plane trip as part of a rookie initiation. Denney was expected to rejoin his team Thursday in Minneapolis after being struck in the calf Wednesday night by a bullet fired into a team bus near the stadium. Kansas City police have received several tips, but have no solid suspects in the shooting, spokesman Sgt. Tony Sanders said Thursday morning.

At first, I thought that the gunman was an idiot, but if he was aiming for the boots, he may just have good taste.

That explains it. They have just been hazing Nelson Philippe all year.

At first, I thought that the gunman was an idiot....

I live in Kansas City and he has to be an idiot. He should have taken aim at the Royals bus instead. What a pathetic excuse for a baseball team.
