Dodge Motorsports officials are expected to formally unveil the manufacturer's new entry to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series on Monday.
News and an illustration of the new Dodge Charger appeared in Sunday editions of both the New York Times and Detroit Free Press.
Dodge, which had been utilizing the Intrepid model since its return to NASCAR in 2001, has a strong track record with the Charger.
Dodge racked up 124 wins with the Charger between 1966 and 1977, with 37 of those coming from seven-time Cup champion Richard Petty.
The most recent Charger win came on Nov. 20, 1977, at Ontario (Calif.) Motor Speedway. Three drivers won Cup championships using the Charger - David Pearson (1966), Bobby Isaac (1970) and Petty (1972, 1974 and 1975).
