Announcement supposed to come Friday at Suzuka. Either buying Jag and entering next season (using already designed R6 and then building own chassis in 2006) or entering as all-new team in 2006. Funding possibly either from Russia (Abramovich) or Canada.

Take your pick:

No big deal.

The first time Dallara was in F1 (1988-1992), they didn't exactly burn up the track with any stellar performances.

They scored their first points in 1989 and only had 15 total with such drivers as Alex Caffi, Andrea de Crasheris, Emmanuele Pirro, Giani Morbidelli, J.J. Lehto and Pierluigi Martini.

Dallara's best finish was a third at Canada with de Crasheris that owed more to Senna falling out of first with a blown engine than anything. They also got a third from Lehto at San Marino two years later.

It's not like Dallara was Jordan or anything.

Well, its official. (i guess - theres a long way to go from here to there.)

Dallara will make the cars for the team run by Russian born, Canadian citizen Alex Shnaider.

This effort has F1rejects.com written all over it, but good luck to them.

Well, F1 could do to Dallara what it did for Lola -- suck up a lot of resources and kill your buyer base in other formulae by only providing a mediocre product. It couldn't happen to a worse series... ;)

Only problem is that it would hurt the sportscar world too...

Who is still running Dallaras besides Roll Centre?

And the next announcement will be that George Eaton is making a comeback?

Nobody else (at least of note) right now, but let's not forget that the most successful Dallara sportscars aren't necessarily Dallaras. I wouldn't want a Reynard-style collapse to jeopardize any future projects.

And the next announcement will be that George Eaton is making a comeback?

From what I heard and remember, the Eaton kids and grandkids are still very well off, even though they ran daddy's company into the ground.

Eaton Sr. used to say - 'own your own land, don't have any debts, and you are master of your own destiny'. This from the man who started Eaton's department stores. Now a division of Sears.
