The world is about to get a lot less funny, beginning in January.

Dave Barry, The Herald's humor columnist for the past 20 years, said Tuesday that he will take an indefinite leave of absence from the newspaper. He may return in a year.

Herald editors wish Barry were making it up.

I grew up with the Peanuts TV specials and watched them religously, but I never really enjoyed the comic strips so much. More of a Dennis The Menace kind of guy, I guess. :gomer:

I honestly think that Dave has needed a break for many years. When he first came out he would have me roaring, but he lost a step or two.

Bloom County is back in the Sunday paper (Chi Trib).

I miss Calvin and Hobbes. :cry:
