So, how many other pictures of American GP drivers can you folks find on a long holiday weedend?
ps: no link to Mikey Whinedretti allowed. ;)
I know that you are asking for more pics of American GP drivers , but how about a pic of an American GP wanker?

The one in the picture isn't the Honker. It's the M6B McLaren from 1969, which was equipped with a variety of Boss 429 based engines. Holman/Moody ran it. The "Honker" was from 1967, was much less successful, and the design ended up being the basis for the Alan Mann Ford F3L prototypes of '68-69.

From the "I didn't know that department." I didn't know Sullivan had a Blue/White helmet. Always thought it was Red/White. Looks like the same design though.
PastaMatic? :laugh::rofl:
I think Penske drivers always have to have their helmet designs match the color of the cars. Sully had the Blue and White design in Cart the following year (84) as well and changed to Red and White in 85 when he went to Penske which had Miller sponsorship.
Speaking of Danny Sullivan; I watched "Circuit" on video again today. Circuit is a movie about the Can-Am series in 1981, with Danny Sullivan, Teo Fabi, Bobby Rahal, Geoff Brabham, Al Holbert and other. It's quite cool, have you guys seen it? The best is the Old Laguna Seca race sequence.

I got that for $1 when F&M went out of business 7 or 8 years ago. Didn't think very much of it, but it's not like there's a lot of Can Am movies to choose from.

I've only seen about three different photos - two of them in print - of Ongais in an F1 car. Even Considine's American Grand Prix Racing doesn't have a shot.
I challenge any of you to show me an F1 photo of Danny I've never seen before.

In GPs Daigh had three starts and three DNFs. But on one perfect raceday in 1962 he defeated Stirling Moss (who raced a Climax 2.7l Lotus 21) driving the rear engined Scarab Formula Intercontinental car powered by the 225ci aluminum block Buick V8 engine in a Tasman Series Formula Libre race.

Speaking of Under-A. He was signed on to Renault to partner Prost. One would assume to help sell Renault's in the US. I can't for the life of me come up with any other reason. Then goes to Alfa Romeo after that. (Alfa probably hoping that Under-A would help them sell their driveway oiling machines).
Notice how shortly after Under-A drove for those team they pulled their cars out of the North American market. (OK, Alfa struggled on but their sales made Yugo look good). Not only that, but their teams pulled out of F1 shortly after too.
Coincidence?
I think not.....
;)
Oh, and one more for Mr. Heckard. :gomer:
