[Edit -- Sorry Cam, -- you just beat me to it!]

As a matter of fact, Speed is scheduled to televise the ROC at these times:

Paris - 2004 Sun, Dec 12 8:00PM
Paris - 2004 Sun, Dec 12 1:00AM
Paris - 2004 Sat, Dec 18 2:00PM
Paris - 2004 Sat, Dec 25 9:00PM

Definitely not to be missed -- Schumacher v Loeb v Bourdais !

By the way, I would have thought that the American team should be Jeff Gordon/Robby Gordon, since Robby has his Baja off-road experience. As far as the "asphalt" driver is concerned, I would prefer one of our ChampCar drivers, of course, but I'm willing to give Jeff Gordon the benefit of the doubt, as he was so enthusiastic about his Formula One "Trading Paint" test drive.

In what alternate reality would Robby Gordon be one of our top 100 drivers?

BTW - Jeff Gordon/Jimmie Johnson are defending their team championship from last year. Not a bad reason to pick them...

Well, I guess since the fact that it is advertised as an asphalt \ rally drivers thang, it maybe would make some sense to have an off-road kind of guy involved. I think J.Johnson is a great choice, and I think R. Gordon would do a great job as well, considering his off-road racing \ road racing, and open wheel racing background. Oh, and YEAH, he has pissed off virtually every owner, team, and competition he has been involved with, but HEY, we're talking about FRANCE here for crissakes.... what kind of damage can one more "ugly American" do to our already strained relations ????
Drop the flag !

In reality..... They have the Champs from all the major series.

M$ - F1 Champ
SeaBass - CART Champ
Nose - EARL Champ
Loeb - WRC Champ
Gordon - NASCAR Champ (According to the points if they didnt have the playoff.) :gomer:

Actually Jimmie did off-road racing before he started running the ASA series.

Nice Pull !!! I never knew J.Johnson was a Mickey Thompson and SCORE winner. I used to go and see that crazy-ass truck racing at Anaheim Stadium (wayyy back before it was Edison Field and the tore the top section out and put in those fake mountains and waterfalls).....
That was some serious fun stuff to watch !
So, like I said, J.Johnson would be a great choice, but I have no problems with Robby Gordon either.... hopefully, they'll both kick some ass !!!!

Apparently J. Gordon has now scratched because of illness which required hospitalization this week, and he's missed a bunch of NYC Nextel Cup pre-banquet events:

No Race of Champions for Jeffy (http://www.wtnh.com/Global/story.asp?S=2643299)

So...who, if anyone, is the first alternate? Is this where Robby (also an RoC vet) comes in???

Just who does actually get to pick our team? Anyway, now that J Gordon is out, and J Johnson is there as our off-road racer, maybe there is a spot open for one of our ChampCar drivers after all! Pretty unlikely, I realize, but we can hope....

I have a vague recollection of seeing somewhere that Centrix Financial is a title sponsor this year...which may mean Boris gets the last-minute call?

Whomever they (I think "they" being the promoters and/or event sponsors) pick, there isn't much time left to make this happen.

Ok, I was hoping Dinger, Said, or maybe Tony Stewart if we needed a NASCAR driver. But Mears? I was kinda hoping the US could win this thing. But I think Casey Mears, Jimmie and Jeff are good friends, so that might be the reason.
