Forsythe Sues Players [Archive]

Anyone know what's up with this?

Gerald Forsythe, Champ Car co-owner and a team owner, has filed suit in Marion Circuit Court Civil Division against a former sponsor. He is suing Player's Company Inc., Imperial Tobacco Canada Ltd. and Player's Ltd., claiming breach of contract.

Has Steve Ballard gotten soft? There's probably a lot more to that story than a two-liner &etc. bit. Ballard used to do good reporting on the business of racing.

TOTAL & COMPLETE speculation (hey, this is on the internetS):

I wonder if Players kept paying Forsythe "under the table" for keeping the same livery on the two main cars. That way people still think of Players when seeing the cars. Maybe they didn't pay up.

As far as I know, Players actually still owns part of the team.
