View Full Version : Texas Double Whopper?
Is this just a regional menu item or is it at all Burger Kings?
I just bought one for lunch and that is one big sombich. I couldn't finish it, double meat, bacon, double cheese, jalapeños, mustard, mayo, lettuce, pickle and onion on a honkin' big azzed bun.
I got my cholesterol injection for the next 2 weeks.
Burrrp. Nap time.
2 weeks? sounds like you're ready for winter hibernation :p

Not to start a food thread but . . .
There is this place in Tomball, Mel's Diner, they have a burger on the menu:
$15
1 pound of ground meat
1 pound of bacon
1/4 pound of cheese
all the extras, tomato, lettuce, onion, ect . . .
Eat it in 1 hour and its free, just finish it and you get your name on "the wall".
I have tackled the mel burger but, not the mega mel. A co worker has his name on the wall.
It is actually in Hufsmith, a quiet suburb of Tomball. :p

The double whopper is lightweight compared to this 1420 calorie badboy from Hardees, the Monster Thickburger:

I checked the BK website and they don't have the Texas Double listed. The closest was just the Double Whopper w/Cheese at 1060 calories. That still doesn't account for the added 3 strips of bacon. I bet it is close if not over that 1420 calorie mark.
Burger reviewer,

I agree with the TBG, t'aint a true burger unless the juices run down your arm while you eat it. Of course, that can also be said about good dates.....

Only 8 Pounds .... sounds like an appetizer to me!!! ;)
This is one of my pet peeves. Not because of calories or fat, but just plain physical dimensions.
What started me off was ordering a club sandwich at a particular place and when it came it was about eight inches tall - on regular sandwich bread and sliced diagonally - each half of which had to vertically reinforced by a toothpick. It looked impressive, but I wanted to get whoever's idea this was to come to my table and demonstrate how *anyone* could possibilty eat the dang thing without taking it apart and reassembling it. Even if my mouth did open eight inches, removal of the toothpick would cause a structural collapse so I'd have to devise a method whereby I could get the head of the toothpick in my nose while negotiating my lower jaw around bottom of the sandwich.
Arrrghhh! THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SANDWICH WAS THAT YOU COULD EAT IT WITH ONE HAND WHILE PLAYING CARDS!!!

1) place sandwich between your palms, with the toothpick being exposed between the middle and 3rd fingers.
2) squeeze sandwich between palms to desired mouth size. 2" to 3" for most, 4" to 6" for top notch porn stars and loudmouths like Ank.
3) In 1 fluid motion, remove toothpick while inserting sandwich in mouth.
4) Enjoy!
5) If needed. (http://health.yahoo.com/health/ency/adam/001983/i1100)

Come on man, that was so 2 1/2 weeks ago. Get with the program. The correct analogy would be that she casually mentions at the end of the night that she got back with her boyfriend (different girl, BTW).
Let us know when you get one that says, "Sorry, I don't do that, at least not with a guy." ;)

THREE people have so far tried and failed to eat what is believed to be the world’s biggest burger, its creator said last night.
The trio have visited a Glasgow restaurant over the past week to try to finish the 10lb burger in under three hours. But all efforts have proved unsuccessful, with one contender even failing to polish it off with the help of five of his friends.
10lbs.?!? :saywhat: Eat that, Texas boyz. :D

I hear tell they sell these here burgers out in SoCal, but they is labelled as "Carl's Jr", as in Carl Karcher, and they are called the "$6 Burger", that you only have to pay $4.95 for.... that is unless you go for the "Bacon Western Double Cheese", or the "Guacamole Bacon", or the Protein - no bun, lettuce wrapped" options that they offer.
Personally, I never thought I'd want one, however, whilst hungover one Sat AM, and running out to the Home Depot to purchase some "hunny-do" project crap, I ventured into the drive thru at Carl's..... Got the Guac-Bacon version, and have had one every couple of weeks since.
They rock ! And are exactly what you expect.

My girlfriend at the time lived in Green Trails right around the corner. While the strip mall version lacks the ambience of the original, they still have kickass hamburgers and (used to have) Baderbrau on tap. :D I've yet to visit the one in Batavia.
Their French onion soup rocks, too.

There's just nothing like an off-season unhealthy food thread... :D  Just remember, when it comes to burgers it's the quality not the quantity. I'm always in favor of regularity, so I'll share that giant bag of jalapeno sliders that Spicoli and Chop are working over....
My favority cholesterol delivery device is what are affectionately referred to as "burnt ends." If you find yourself in Kansas City you can get burnt ends at Arthur Bryant's, Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ and others. These chewy and smokey bits are the pinnacle of the BBQ craft. Far as I could ever tell, it's about the only good reason to visit KC.
Better yet, one can make their own burnt ends by slow cooking a full packer cut brisket over hickory wood for 15-20hrs, then cutting the deckle off the flat and tossing it back on for another 4-5hrs until it looks like a cinder. Chop it up into shards with a cleaver and mix in a little Buster's or Stubb's sauce (or similar if you make your own) and put a big dab on a squishy white bread bun, grab a cold beer and prepare for heaven. While all that cooking is going on, drink plenty of beer, take long naps, play with kids or dogs or better both, but do not pay bills, watch TV, run errands or do odd jobs the wife put you up to. :D
