Ziggy was with PacWest for a very long time. They seem to be filling the officiating positions with people who have spent a lot of time working in the ChampCar pit lane - that is a good thing.

IIRC, the clown was responsible for race control, and was responsible for the silly calls on yellows, etc. (ala the Vegas fiasco) last season. This position and the race director will report to the new VP of Ops, Tony Cotman:

I think you've got it backwards, dando. Cotman would report to Ziggy, the new Director of Ops.

Zig is a pal of mine, and a good guy. Formerly with Galles, did Can Am in the old days, then SuperVee. He's been around. He's a class act.

Just hope the politics in the office don't keep him from doing a good job.

Could well be. I'm just going off the two press releases on the CCWS site. However, one usually does not find VPs reporting to directors in a corporate hierarchy. Plus, Ziggy's role was described as being limited to running tech inspections:

The article announcing Cotman rebuilding the operations group after a series of defections (Lopes and Anderson) and layoffs (Kniefel), which weren't mentioned directly.

In any case, hopefully these cats will fix the competition issues that have plagued CCWS the past couple of years.

Paul (Ziggy) is replacing John Anderson who reports to, now, Tony Cotman... used to be John Lopes. Word from the office says he and Tony are already doing a great job and are great to work with. Hope some of this fixes the race ops dept., Let's give these guys a break this year :D , Don't be so hard on them for calls.
