So i saw this car and it reminded me of someone elses car...

Its Danica Patricks IRL car, but to me it looks an awful lot like the old Team Alumax Bettenhausen Motorsports entries. The number 16 is even the same style.
Anyone else get chills?

I didnt get the chills, but when I saw the car sans right side wheels careening into the "safer" walls at about 160MPH, I'll be the driver got more than the chills.... she got "the bell" rung, and did the .1rl shuffle \ stumble until they corralled her into the back of the "safety" truck...
btw: yeah, I watched. It just gets worse and worse each time.

Sorry, not to be mean but this is not a post about Danica. It could have been anyone elses car...i was just noting on the similarities between the two paint jobs.
The chills part was not in refernace to the crash at all, it was about a former friend of open wheeled racing (CART/Champ Car) who's life was taken before his time and proudly held the number 16 for many years.

It reminded me of Buddy Rice's car. I'm guessing that is the wrong answer eh? ;)

Other then the number I don't think of Team Bettenhausen when I see that car. The paint scheme on the Alumax car was much nicer. Its one of the few diecasts that I own. But now that you mention it, it does bring back good memories. I got interested in racing by watching Tony drive the AMAX car at Indy back in the eighties. I understand where you're coming from with the chills.

same here

The whole concept produces that reaction for me, so I don't watch. I can't treat the cause so I treat the symptom.

I still have that manual, and the track pack guide too, think I threw the game away forever ago though

Actually I think she's talking about the 1994-95 paint scheme specifically, where the red and blue were basically in the same places - Stefan's was dayglo red and steel blue though, with black numerals.
In other words, I didn't really notice the resemblance.

I still have the game, which sits right below indycar racing 2, later rebadged as CART racing, and i still have the case of cart precision racing, although the cd from that game got used as a coaster years ago....
still have the original disks of indy 500 too :)
