NASCAR Chief Engineer becomes Director of Technology. Interesting choice. But he'll probably bring fresh ideas that are desperately needed.

A bit more background and it makes a little more sense. Elkins also worked with IRL teams, Atlantic teams, Barber Dodge and Pi Research (now owned by...).

At least we know Billy's group will make sure the fuel cells are correctly filled for qualifying runs... :D

Even if Champ car is going to remain pretty much a spec series for a while, they need someone qualified to make decisions for the next generation of cars. In spite of the focus on NASCAR in the press release, the guy actually has a fair amount of formula car experience.

Exactly. So I don't see what there is to worry about.
