I have to admit that I was a little, shall we say, anxious about how LB would play out. What I mean is, as well as St. Pete went for the IRL, a bad showing (i.e. a fuster cluck in T1 at the start, a dozen extended FCYs, and no passing) would look bad in comparison for Champ Car. But everything about Long Beach was better than St. Pete. The crowd was huge. The cars were gorgeous. The engine note musical as always. (an aside: My wife, who doesn't watch often with me but knows enough about it to not sound stupid, came in and sat down and said, "I never really noticed it before, but the cars do sound a lot different than the IRL cars. These sound more like real race cars.") There were not one, not two, but three on-track passes for the lead. There were just a couple FCYs and they were handled quickly. All in all, I'd say that was one of the best races I've seen in a long time. :thumbup:

Oh, and I didn't see any red hats.

The next hats they wore in Winner's Circle were the Roshfrans hats.... and then tossed them into the crowd...my buddy Ryan has SeaBass' hat.... :D

Then after that, they wore black Champcar hats.... and threw those into the crowd.... I wore Bruno's hat home after I leaped over several smaller people to get it !!!! :thumbup:

And the rumors are true... Champagne DOES sting when it gets in your eyes!
