GREAT ACCESS FOR RACING FANS IN CARA CHARITIES’
2005 INDIANAPOLIS RACE TEAM AND TECHNOLOGY TOUR

Dinner and Racing Tour Set For USGP Weekend on Thursday, June 16

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (April 8, 2005) -- CARA Charities’ annual Indianapolis Race Team and Technology Tour, formerly known as The USGP Shop Tour, has been expanded for the 2005 edition with a stellar lineup of insider access on Thursday, June 16.
Continuing its tradition as one of the city’s premier events during the United States Grand Prix week, this year’s Indianapolis Race Team and Technology Tour will allow participating racing fans a rare opportunity to see behind the scenes via guided tours at race shops of open-wheel standouts Fernandez Racing, defending NHRA Top Fuel champions Don Schumacher Racing and the Auto Research Center, featuring a wind tunnel and seven-post shaker rig. The tour will be followed by dinner at Rick’s Boatyard Café and special guest speakers including Formula One expert Peter Windsor.
Windsor is an award-winning Grand Prix editor of F1 Racing magazine, the pit lane presenter for Speed Channel TV and a multi-directional TV interviewer at all F1 events for Formula One Management. His voice is heard asking post-qualifying and post-race questions of the podium finishers.
Windsor is the ultimate insider serving as manager of sponsorship and public affairs for Williams in 1985, moving to Ferrari as general manager in 1989, and returning to Williams as team manager in 1991 – the year the team won both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ World Championships. He has managed 1992 World Champion Nigel Mansell and Carlos Reutemann, and continues to coach a number of successful drivers, including BAR-Honda’s lineup and the Red Bull drivers.
“We are pleased to expand our annual tour to new venues this year and having an expert like Peter Windsor speak at the event,” said Barbara Butz, president of CARA Charities. “Thanks for one of our members, Lori Lovely, we have been able to show more of the racing industry in the Indianapolis area. We feel this new direction with the tour will give racing fans a greater ‘behind-the-scenes’ insight to our popular sport. In addition, we will be raising important funds for several needy causes through the tour.”
Buses will depart Rick’s Boatyard Cafe promptly at 3:30 p.m. EST on June 16 for private tours, returning to the waterfront restaurant for cocktails, live music, dinner and the presentation.
The Indianapolis Race Team and Technology Tour is one of CARA Charities’ annual fund-raising events. Founded in 1981, CARA Charities has distributed more than $3.5 million to racing and community organizations, promoting the friendships of all those involved in motor sports. In partnership with the International Center of Indianapolis, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1973 to help Indy welcome the world, this unique event will be promoted to the F1 fans among our growing international community.
Tickets for the event are now available by calling CARA Charities at (317) 299-2277 or emailing CARAchar@aol.com. Information on the tour is available on www.caracharities.org. The price of $150 per person includes custom coach transportation to the shops, cocktails, dinner and the presentation by Peter Windsor and other guests, with a special Question and Answer period.
