Which is the broadcast partner?

That has to be the most damning article I've recently read on the earl. It's just under the Onion Gum piece from last year.

Which is the broadcast partner?

ABC news last night ran a story on Patrick, and by extention the 500, and I was surprised how less then flattering it was about what has happened to the race

It's just under the Onion Gum piece from last year.

Huh? What was that?

Huh? What was that?

There was an article that stated "The IRL has become motorsport's version of Onion Gum", alluding to a stinky product that nobody really wants. I'm having trouble googling the article, though.

Here are some quotes from the article:

The problem with the IRL is no matter how many young, eager types it hires in sales, marketing and promotion, do the folks in the "red states" really want to buy its product?
If someone invents "Onion Gum" no matter how much is spent in sales, advertising and promotion, no matter how many double-truck ads are purchased in USA Today, does anyone really want to buy onion-flavored gum?

The IRL has become motorsports version of "Onion Gum."

"Chevrolet's departure is very bad," said Toyota Motorsports manager Lee White. "You have open-wheel racing without an American manufacturer and the Indianapolis 500 without an American manufacturer. That's a pretty serious deal."

"We haven't decided to leave(havent descided to stay either). We are committed to the program through 2006. I'd hate to say we are in any position to dictate but certainly I'm extremely concerned for the series.

"The fact Chevrolet left is a very, very serious problem for the IRL."

Toyota wants cost control on Honda or it might follow Chevy out of the IRL.

"It has absolutely turned into a 100 percent manufacturer head-to-head combat and that is not a comfortable position for us."

"I would say our enthusiasm doesn't match that what it was in CART but the cost is and that is a huge worry for the company," White said. "The direction we are going in now is very troubling."
